Bidding on Hot Packs

Just wondering if anyone here has bid on sealed hot packs off of ebay. If so, what was you're luck. I'm looking at possibly getting some of them in order to save from buying boxes. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

You will get what is promised, but it will be very low end. I doubt you are going to pull any really high end cards. I bought a few and was not overly happy with them.

How can the person tell if what is in the pack is high end or low end. I have always thought about buying a pack or two just to see what I get but I always chicken out at the last minute.

I don't get why people continue to buy these things when its just a ploy that has been explained a billion times on this board.

Plain and simple if you buy them then your a moron because your paying for low end game used and autographs that a guy has resealed into your "hot pack". So if you like paying $15 for a Randy Wolf autograph card then go ahead and do it because these guys continue to scam people since they continually buy this crap.

And if you don't believe me a guy on Beckett's message board ran across a guy who reseals the packs AND THE OTHER USERNAME THAT HE USES TO BUY THE JUNK AUTOGRAPHS AND GAME USED on eBay.

So you can actually see the crap that you will be bidding on from this guy (its the second link in the guy's post). And the guy uses other ebay usernames to give his original account good feedback with "I pulled a Kobe/Jordan autograph card". NOBODY PULLS THAT STUFF. Its just the accounts that he uses to buy cheap junk giving him the wild cards that you will NEVER get and to build up his feedback so people feel confident in buying his stuff.

Ah...that's how they do it. They re-seal the packs. Thank god I was never a moron and was smart enough to stay away. ;) I figured there was some catch.

I have bought about 5 hot packs on ebay, and out of those 5 I have gotten two cards that booked for $50+. So I dont know what pwaldo is talking about, but when i pulled my dual Anthony/Lebron GU that booked for $100. I was happy as heck with my purchase.

I think you guys are missing the even more distressing point of these packs. The BEST case-scenerio is that these people are pack searching local stores for these packs.... or they are shop owners who are pillaging their boxes in order to sell these packs and then leave the crap for their customers. Worst case scenerio is mentioned above.

You can see the cards that the guy is selling in his "hot packs". His past buys all match the "hot packs" that he sells after he buys the cards. You may have gotten lucky with something decent but what about the 3 other packs you bought and the junk tommy bought. In the long run the seller is going to make out huge.

If you sell 100 packs and have 10 or even 25 packs that are going to make somebody "happy" then your going to get 75-90 cards that are filled with junk. Now all the people that got the "good" stuff from the packs rave on the seller's feedback and it seems like he gives out only good stuff when in fact its garbage. The people who get crap don't really leave feeback and when they do leave bad feedback the seller gets it made private like in the thread that I posted.

If I sold every autograph card for $5 that I owned and didn't tell people who they were getting a few people would get great deals, some would be okay and most would be bad but EVERY transaction I would make $5 so I'd be sitting pretty at the end of the day. That would be a way to eliminate all the crap that nobody would ever touch if they knew what it was. That's called grab bags and its something that's not allowed on this site because its a crap scam that's basically this without putting the cards in a wrapper.

Think about it if the guy sells 100 packs for $10 that's $1000 he just made and NOTHING that he has in the packs will make him $1000 and if you sold all the cards seperate on eBay you wouldn't make half of that. I don't get why people can't see this. The pull of these "mystery" products makes people overpay for stuff that they can normally buy on eBay for nothing.

If you want to buy the stuff and your happy with it then that's your choice but I'm going to inform people so hopefully they will stay away from this stuff. I mean if the stuff was great they'd be selling the card by itself and not "unknown".

You most likely will get junk. You may get lucky and pull a nice card but the chances are slim.

Some guy on another board bought like 25 of these packs and listed them all for us... he told us the pack, the cost of the pack, the auto/gu he pulled and an average ebay value for it. In the end he lost like $100. And he bought each pack from a different seller so it wasn't the same technique of seaching/resealing the packs... they were all bad.

So you may buy a pack for $15 but the card will only be worth a couple bucks.

You're better off buying singles on Ebay.
