Ebay Auction Quandry
I've trying to get a particular card and have not had any luck. it is now listed on eBay. Trouble is, the opening bid is 40% higher than the average sale price of recent auctions for the same card. The Buy it Now price is 300% higher than the average final sale. I absolutely will not pay the Buy It Now price.
My brain says: The opening bid is too high. No one will bid and the card will be relisted at a lower opening bid.
My heart says: You don't know that it won't get bids. You don't know that it will be relisted. Pay a little more, get the card and have piece of mind.

Depends you said completed listings so it can't be too rare
Unless it is specific or the numbering or something
I know there was a burmistrov card I accidentally lost, and thought that was terrible, but them another was listed and I got it half the price
If you have the money, and REALLY want the card, I'd get it
Wait it our though don't place the bid right away

Depends what card, some /10(parAlells especially) you won't even see any
Big name cards you'll likely see again, but keep in mind if it sells next time other buyers will be aware that it sold for that price

Well from a similar experience I would say if you really want, have to have it buy it. I was looking at a /10 card on ebay. Two differant ones were posted and I bid but backed off in the end, due to price. Haven't seen another one posted since. kicking myself hoping another surfaces....Then again it would suck if a cheaper one listed within a week :)

For me - it depends on what 40% is. If it's a $10 card, and the guy's start bid is $14 - I say why not. If it's a $100 card, and he's starting it at $140 - that's a little different.
I've "overpaid" several times for PC cards.... either very short print runs, or older parallels that do not show up too often. Never regretted it.

Gotta factor in that if 3 have already been pulled and sold on the Bay, there's only 6 other copies floating around out there after this one. Depending on the product you may not see too many more.
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

I think for a PC and there are only 10 out there with 2 gone, you must go for it, providing the price isn't stupid.
I would wait until the very end of the auction and bid if there is little or no action.
My thoughts.
James.
