Who else misses the old topps and upper deck?
I've only bought two boxes of panini stuff and they've both been absolute trash. I know this is a little off topic, but panini boxes just aren't fun to break. With topps and UD, I could get bad cards and still have "fun" with the break. I can't do that with Panini and it doesn't help that most of the time the boxes are just plain terrible.
I kind of got out of collecting once panini took over and now I'm sort of back into it and wish I could buy some older UD or topps boxes, but they're no where to be found. I would gladly buy some boxes of 07-08 letterman or chronology, but not a single site has them.
So does anyone know UD and topps can start making basketball cards again? And I know UD has some stuff now, but it's not the same getting all the players in their college uni's. I just want panini's contract to expire so busting boxes can be worth it again instead of just buying all my stuff on ebay.

Competition always makes for a better product. This is almost as bad as 1988 when there was literally no competition in football and basketball cards and if you didn't like what was offered then too bad. SMH.

In the last month I have busted the following
2x 10-11 panini season update
1 10-11 limited
1 10-11 gold standard
1 10-11 elite black box
1 10-11 totally certified
That being said I feel as if the products were not to bad actually. The season update is a solid low end option where box says you get 4 hits but I got 5 in both boxes.
My gold standard box was also nice hitting a Jason Kidd/Steve Nash dual auto. Aong with sine solid jersey and inserts. Other two autos were just okay. My box of elite black box wasn't very good though. Lackluster autos but some solid jerseys. My certified box was nice yielding a terrace white jumbo rookie patch auto numbered to 5. My limited was about average I would say. Got a nice patch and a decent rookie auto patch.
That being said I have also broke some topps product and I didn't do well actually. I'd felt for my money the panini products I did better than topps.
Also I just opened a 09-10 upper deck draft edition and got 5 autos but 4 were scrubs. Best one I got was marcus Thornton. So that box also wasn't a good one either...
I think with any product you can hit or miss but in my experiences I have preferred panini products. I know many people will disagree but that's my two cents

I miss the competition which at least keeps stuff interesting. That's it....
Besides I still have too much crap jerseys, autos and inserts from both UD and Topps that I can't pay someone to take away. I'm not missing them that much lol
btw, if anyone wants them just let me knowwwwwwww lol

I don't know about that, especially some of the 06-07 UD Products where your best card is the famous Maurice Ager Autograph. . .
I do miss UD/Topps though if only because a lot of people now only have Panini cards to trade which I have no interest in at all.

I do miss Topps and UD too but I think the products are a hit/miss when it comes to busting. Because I've been busting Panini left and right and some are good, and some are bad. I bought a box of SP authentic and it was absolute garbage so it isn't always Panini that gives out crappy boxes.
I am also interested in knowing when the contract with Panini ends so that other companies can come in and start making cards. My favorite products have always been Topps Finest, Topps Chrome and UD SP Authentic so it sucks to not have them anymore in NBA form.

I understand that UD and topps could also have complete garbage in the boxes, but I don't know...the cards just looked better. All of these sticker auto's that Panini throws out just look so messy and I don't like the design of most of the sets. UD and topps would always have interesting concepts and I feel like panini tries to do that, but fails miserably.
