Crunched Card In Shipping, What to Do?
Trade with new member, cards stuffed into one of those thick top-loaders without a team-bag and not taped off.
Two made it, this 2009-10 SPA MDZ Future Watch Auto took a nice crunched corner:

Before I took any action I wanted to poll the audience.
Is there any way I can turn this to UD and ask for a replacement claiming it happened from a pack? I'm starting to hear success stories about this. Any chance this can get replaced by them?
What would you guys do?Hidden Content , Hidden Content , Hidden Content

Negative on UD replacing it because you have to have the cellophane, pack foil, etc. And besides, it's lying. Honesty is a virtue and is needed in anything, especially this hobby. I would just ask for a refund because of poor shipping.

Last time that happened to me the seller offered me some paypal to compensate. Maybe see if he'll give you a partial refund/discount, since the card isnt DESTROYED, just wounded

Sorry, missed the trade part. Either a replacement of equal value, or your cards back.

Id ask for a replacment or paypal. The toploader should of been the right size, and the top taped or put in a team bag.

It just came to me.
He's a new trader and had Must Send First status so I've held his cards. I proposed that I send the MDZ back to him and pick something else from his list. He's got some pretty nice traders so it should be ok...bummed about the damaged MDZ card though, I like "collecting" these for my tradebait, they are very moveable, especially since he's a nice young player on a particularly good team...

In my opinion, should the trader not be willing to take the card back and either exchange or cancel the trade, they should get a negative, as traders we know that cards must be shipped securely and this clearly was not.

He sends first, so you are not out anything.
Show him the scan of the card, if he wants the card back it will cost him extra money for you to ship it.
Now, take the trade value from the damaged card and subtract it off the rest of the total, then remove some of your cards to him that equate to same total.
Pretty simple really.

First thing you should have done is contact the trader, if I was that trader I'd be a little upset to see the post before hearing of the damage. I'm a new trader here it it would bother me if someone didn't contact me first.
Not to doubt you but I'm going to play devil's advocate here there's always two sides to every story
That card looks like it was dropped on a tile or hardwood floor. If two of three cards made it in the same top loader it a bubble mailer (if they were in a bubble mailer) than all three should look like that, and the mailer should have some damage to it too. And based on the fact you would even think of sending it back to UD would put question marks in my mind (if I was that trader, I'm not).
I've dropped card a couple cards on my tiles and that's exactly how the looked, and yes it was in a soft sleeve.
Talk to your trader and let them know what happed and work it out, let them know to tape the top's closed too, or use team bags.
