How many cards should you send?
How many cards do you usually include in letters to players? What gives you the best chance of getting a return? So far I've only gotten 1 (Jordy Nelson), but am hoping to get a bunch back soon because I sent a bunch out for spring training.
What else could I do to increase my chances of getting more back?

Don't some more than what you can afford to lose. What I do is send between 2 and 4 low end base cards. I always say please and thank you and tell the ball player to feel free to keep any of the cards he/she likes and sign and return the rest. I have a some good success so far this year.

Do NOT Send more than 3 UNLESS you are completing a set and you need 5 signed. Many players when they see 5-6 cards show up, they think reseller (I would, wouldn't you?). If you do send 5-6, tell them the reason why and assure them you'll never sell them

I totally agree. That would just make you seem really greedy too.

I tend to only send one unless it's a player I really would like multiples of (like Jamie Moyer, which I got last year) or if the multiple cards are too cool to NOT try and get them signed (I sent to Brett Lawrie today - sent him a base card and the red parallel just to give it a shot).
