What size envelopes to use. And other questions.

    Hi Everyone:

I decided to try my luck at getting some autographs of my favorite players through TTM addresses.

But I was wondering what size envelopes everyone uses for the SAS envelopes. Do you use a 11x17 and fold it all up and put it in a smaller one? What do you do?

Also, if I want to send cards to sign, should I put each of them in a plastic sleeve and top loader?

Some other questions I have are:

What should I put in the letter asking for the autograph?

Is it wrong to ask them to include a picture or anything else they have lying around in addition to the cards?

Should I offer them a card to keep?

Answers to these questions and any other advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

    Jim

I use the standard sized envelopes for the main envelope and add a smaller SASE inside. I don't put any cards in top loaders, some athletes with sign the top loader instead. Most guys just add an index card or two but I just put the cards in with the letter. Some come back all messed up but it's rare.
What you put in your letter is up to you. I keep mine short and to the point. These guys get thousands of letters in some cases...no need to make them go crazy trying to read my letter. Whatever your do, be courteous. Always say please and thank you.
I would never ask them if they can add an additional item. Send 1-3 cards or an 8x10 and don't get greedy. They are doing this on their own time. Some will add a signed testimonial card and I have gotten some extras but I have never asked for any. Just be content to get whatever you put in the envelope signed.
You can offer them a card or two. Some might take you up on it but most just sign and return your cards.
If you have any other questions feel free to contact me via DM.
