EDMONTON — So what makes St. Louis Blues head coach Ken Hitchcock tick?

“It’s not the extra large slice of pizza anymore,” laughed Edmonton Oilers head coach Tom Renney.

Friends can have a belly-laugh at the expense of another — Hitchcock and Renney have been buddies for more than two decades. Their friendship goes back to when Renney replaced Hitchcock as the Kamloops Blazers coach during the 1990-91 Western Hockey League season. Hitchcock was given his pro start as an assistant to Philadelphia Flyers head coach Paul Holmgren in 1990.
