    Lightbulb Considering adoption...anyone w/experience?

Best friend from high school posted pics of their adopted son.
A few others are goin' thru the process.
A couple from church adopted 2 boys 3 yrs ago.

Wife & I can't have children of our own.
After seein' pics of friends' son, it made me think about it a bit more & discuss w/wife tonight in depth.

    Any input would be appreciated!!

I do not have any experience but that would be awesome. Helping a child get a family and at the same time you and your wife fulfilling the parent role.

I think it's a great that you are planning on adopting. There are lots of children that can use a good home.

Well, There will definitly need to be sacrifices made to make this dream come true. My wife and I have 2 boys and we've talked about adopting as well. Like said above, there are a lot of kids (born and unborn) that could use a loving home. It's sad that it costs so much money to adopt and it's so easy to kill and abort a baby for convienence. But I believe if you and your wife have the heart to adopt, make it happen man! God bless you and your wife and I hope it will work out for you guys to make a difference in a childs life. Thake care,
    Luke

I am adopted and think it is a great thing. My wife and I had three of our own kids so never felt the need to adopt, but I can honestly say that my parents (my real parents, not the one who gave me away) are the best things that happened to me in my life. They took me in and raised me as their own son and provided me with everything that they could. We were not rich growing up but we were wealthy with love and caring and that is all that mattered.

The finance part is easy. There are numerous religious groups that aide in the financial aspects. I think there may be a government program too but I am not sure.

If I were going to voice a concern it would be health. I know you have mentioned before that you and your wife have had health issues. Kids are like a house, you gotta consider 10-15 years down the road. My wife mentioned having another kid a few years ago and we nixed it because we realized that while we can handle a baby now we don't feel that we can handle a teenager when we are in our late 50's.

A nice alternative to adoption that you might consider is foster parenting. There are lots of kids who have a troubled life and need a safe haven and loving home. Additionally there are financial components that make it easier to care for the children as opposed to adoption.

    Good luck!!
