The Wacky Big-Ten
It looks like the Big Ten could have more teams eligible for Bowl Games this year, then they have spots (for big 10 teams) 8 teams eligible (possibly) for what I think are 6 Bowls for Big Ten Teams.
Penn St.
WI
OSU
NU
MU
Univ. of MN
Iowa (maybe)
Mich. St. (maybe)
My Northwestern team made a thrilling comeback yesterday to make themselves eligible at 6-3. Made a huge pick late in the game, and scored the go ahead TD with 46 tics left on the clock.
I really hope they get into a good bowl for themselves, because the whole team is deserving...based primarily on their #4 rated offense in the country. Basanez makes the team what they are not just with his arm, but his legs and quick decisions. He rarely makes bad decisions (picks, fumbles) and hardly ever gets sacked.
Michigan St. blew their chances significantly yesterday with a tough loss on the road to a underachieving Purdue team.
That's what makes the Big 10 so great, its very unpredictable. ONe week a team looks unstoppable, the next they come out flat and stay that way. There is also not one team that is uncapable of pulling an upset every week- making most games thrilling to watch.

Iowa will get picked over NW come bowl time for the following reasons
1) Better bowl history past 5 years
2) travel extremely well
3) No offense but besides that game we let go to you guys..better team most of the time.

It seems NW has a tough matchup in the Sun bowl vs. UCLA.. I just can't believe Iowa hopped over Michigan to play in Outback bowl.

I counted 7 bowl bids for a conference that was supposed to be in a down year. Quite amazing if you ask me.
GO BADGERS.

Should be a high-scoring affair in UCLA (Drew) vs NU's(Basanez). I heard the over-under is 150 (lol).
I am also surprised Iowa is playing in the Outback, find it pretty hard to believe. I'm a huge fan of everything big-ten, so I will grudingly be rooting for them, because I do that for every big-ten team come bowl time.
I think Penn State/FL St. will be a horrible game...even though FSU won against V Tech, a better match-up/better ratings would have been Penn/V Tech.
Another intriguing game is OSU and ND. My guess, it will be a big defensive battle with the winner being decided in the last two minutes.
OSU's offense, IMO will probably be the deciding factor. Smith, Holmes, and Pittman are a dynomite trio.

the thing thats even more amazing is every team had a shot at being bowl eligible.... even Indiana led by my boy james hardy had a pretty solid start then got into Ohio State, Michigan etc and got shut down.. hopefully in the next couple years... also getting 7 bowls in a year that a team who usually gets in (purdue) had a bad season... although they turned it on at the end....
the problem with the big ten is every team has a chance to win every day. its just the nature of a physical conference like this. im really pulling for the badgers to win for barry one last time

That would be great against Auburn. It would do well if they won along with like 5 of the 6 teams just in general. I got soooo sick and tired of everybody saying the Big 10 has a down year. All teams are pretty strong that somebody has to lose.
