Wholesale Questions? Selling things on Ebay?
Hi I have been wanting to open up a sports card store for as long as I can remember. But the truth is nowdays store fronts are to expensive and they are being killed by companies selling products with an online store front or auction sites like ebay. My question is what do I have to have/do to set up wholesale accounts with the card companies such as Upper Deck, Topps, ect. Do I need make a buy in with the companies? Do I need to show proof that I am seeling so much per month? ANy feedback would be great, Thanks in advance.

I used to be good friends with a cardshop owner here in town and one time we got into a discussion that stores don't make much money. I asked him why he didn't just sell from home and set up a website. He said the card companies make you send in a copy of your bills for your store (rent, power, utilities, etc) to prove you have an actual shop. He said they won't allow you to buy if you don't have a physical shop.
That's what he told me but this was a good 4 years ago so it may have changed. Feel free to follow up anyone.

I would contact the card companies directly. Most likely you will have to buy most through distributors.

Yep, you still have to show proof of a physical store. Phone bills, utilities, proof of business and sales taxes. I own and operate a Crad Store and it took nearly four years to get a direct account with Upper Deck! Once you have an account; you are forced to spend so much every year to keep the account and to have an allocation of certain products. It can be a real pain!!
