I believe those were sold off when fleer went out of business, just like a lot of the patch and jersey cards were sold off without anything in them, i tend to stay away from that stuff unless it has a sticker on the back.

They look fine, but usually they have some sort of sticker on the back stating from the manufacturer that it is a 1/1 printing plate.

Well, I've been in the printing industry for over 20 years & can tell you that it would not be that difficult to make a press plate. I looked over a few of the guys auctions & no where did I see it stated in there that it was the actual press plate that was used to make the cards. Even the ones that are issued by the card companies are not technically 1/1's. They may be the only ones cut up and issued, but somewhere there are more of them as press plates only last for so many impressions & then get changed.

I don't like to say fake unless I'm 100% sure but almost all of the printing plates from Classic/Fleer/Pacific/etc are fake on eBay. They aren't hard to make once you know how and they are worth it since some of the players go for very high amounts.

A number of years ago I purchased a bunch of plates from a dealer who had Pacific, Classic, and some of the all time greats from Swell.
He seemed genuine enough with his explanation that he had purchased them from bankruptcy sales and some straight from the printers.
He had shoe boxes full of these things. I would have hated to have had to carry all those heavy boxes around.
I wound up purchasing mostly common guys, but a few stars and HOFers.
Seems to me if they were going to be selling fakes they would at least print a sticker up like Topps and slap it on there.
The first plate I ever pulled was a Sammy Sosa in a Pinnacle product in 1998, it had the 1 of 1 and facsimile signature of whomever was the head honcho with Score at the time, printed on the back.
Since Sosa and Big Mac were in the late stages of the HR race I was torn for about 5 minutes on whether to sell or not. It turned out to be one of the best cards I ever sold on ebay at $189. Than you Sammy and Pinnacle. :)
