Nice man. Sandberg's a real nice guy and signs a lot at Spring Training as well.

Day 5: Philadelphia Phillies vs Toronto Blue Jays in Dunedin

On my final day of graphing, I went to Dunedin to get mainly Blue Jays since I had already gotten most of the guys on the Phillies that I wanted. Here's how I did before the game:

    Omar Vizquel 1/1: OMLB SS
    Colby Rasmus 2/2: 2 Cards
    Kyle Drabek 2/2: 2 cards
    Henderson Alvarez 1/1: 1 card
    Ben Francisco 1/1: 1 card
    Eric Thames 1/1: 1 card

I then went over to the Phillies minor league camp before I had to catch my flight back and Jim Thome was playing 1B at one of the fields. When he was done, he signed:

Jim Thome 1/1: Signed OMLB w/ Mike Schmidt.

Then I got these minor leaguers:

    Mitch Walding 1/1: 1 card
    Roman Quinn 2/2: 2 cards
    Darin Ruf 1/1: 1 card
    Jonathan Pettibone 3/5: 3 cards

And that's my whole Spring. Thanks for reading.

Very nice...jealous of the Omar and Thome successes being an Indians fan. Did you see Luis Valbuena?

lambeauleap- Thanks man, they were both class acts and were very nice with the fans.

I don't think I noticed Valbuena, but he was still probably there. Did you meet him at any Clippers games?

druce- Thanks man, I was really stoked to get it.

Yeah, Valbuena signed for me a couple times, but I still have a couple photos I'd like to get signed...hoping to run to Cleveland when the Jays are here in two weeks to get him and Vizquel!

hey, it's been pretty cool comparing notes with you about spring training. Hopefully next year we can meet up or something if our times cross and join forces.

I don't know who from my haul you are jealous of, but I'm especially jealous that I missed Schmidt in camp, I didn't see him. Also wish I was able to get Vizquel, he didn't do it the day I went to dunedin. Also, Chipper had that knee surgery diagnosis the day I saw the braves so he wasn't there.

We both did absolutely awesome, but like I said I'm sure there's some tiny jealousy about guys that each of us couldn't get. Let's keep the momentum rolling.

Yeah man, absolutely. From my experience, players are a little more gracious about signing earlier in the season rather than later because they may get a little more focused on the regular season as March progresses.

Schmidt usually only stays for Spring Training for the first 3 weeks, so that's probably why you didn't see him at camp.

You have a really nice collection of SIs now with the Kobe, 4 aces, Pedroia, Hamels, etc. That Pedroia SI looks really sweet. You should try to get Nnamdi on his SI from last year if you go to Eagles Training camp again.

Yeah I have that Nnamdi SI, actually I have 2 copies of it ready to go. I have Blake Griffin, dirk and a few others on SI covers as well. I have the Carlos Ruiz "ace receiver" one unsigned as well. I really like them a lot, they make cool collectables IMO.

My uncle has a house down in clearwater and it is only available very specific weeks since he rents it out when he's not using it so unfortunately I can't really plan to go early in spring I am kind of at the mercy of that situation.

But for a free place to stay I can't exactly be upset about it...

That's cool man, I hope you get those SIs done.

Haha, I guess you can't really complain about a free place to stay. Being down at Spring Training in Florida is really nice enough.

Are you planning on going to any Phillies games this season?
