WSH v BOS, the refs blow it again.
Adam McQuaid turns his back to an oncoming Jason Chimera, who then gets 5 for charging and a game misconduct.
Once again, the refs blow the call being more interested in the result than how it happened.

I'm sort of confused... aren't you a Sabres fan? Isn't it good if Boston beats Washington? Buffalo already smoked them out 5-1 earlier in the week, so you have to like where the Sabres sit for the last few games of the season.
Why so bitter? lol

Yes I want Boston to win.
But I have a very, very strong opinion towards the NHL's policy about these hits from behind. Yes, they need to be removed from the game, but right from the point that this discussion started everyone said the focus needs to be on HOW these hits happen, not the result of them - but the NHL only cares about the end result.. part of the reason why supplemental discipline takes into consideration whether or not an injury was caused by the play.
I hate it every time I see it. Doesn't matter if it's on the Sabres, by the Sabres, or anyone else in the league. If Washington wins this game because the right call is made, so be it. I'd rather the right call be made.

Just clarifying. :)
Just saw the replay also... you have to wonder why McQuaid would turn like that at the last second?? If he doesn't put himself in harm's way, it's probably just a normal hard hit with no calls or injuries. Player did not protect himself. But, Chimera was coming in pretty hard and fast like a dump truck at full speed, clearly not looking to play the puck.

Chimera left his feet and had taken several strides. McQuaid in keeping the direction he was originally headed would have been hit the same way, because he turned, he put himself in peril.
Chimera should have been issued a "Garden Variety" Charging call, not a major.
Shanahan should simply leave this one alone.
