Sometimes eBay amazes me....
One of the many projects I have on the go right now, is an autograph of every player to have ever played for the Oilers. As you can probably guess, it's not that easy to track them all down. Most modern players have at least one pack-pulled auto available, but some of the older guys are tough.
Even then, guys who played for many years in the league - if they don't have a certified auto, they've probably signed lots of cards over the years, and you can track down a copy without too much trouble.
Anyway - I'm missing a little better than 50 names for my collection now, and none of them are very well known. A week ago one shows up on eBay.... Bob Dupuis.
He played in a single game in 1979-80. That was his only NHL contest. The starting bid was $9.99, which I thought was a little high, but I was willing to go into the $15 range on it. I check back tonight to see how my snipe went..... and imagine my surprise at this final auction price:

WOW!
Guess I'll have to wait for the next one :)

Well Sean! At least one of the other four bidders has his auto. You only have to fight it out against three others now! ;)

You never know. There could be a chance that a card company picked it up to use as a cut-auto in the future. Not a bad price for them if it is that rare to get.

That's exactly what I was thinking. I've never heard of him. It looks like he played in one game and got the loss giving up 4 goals.
Good luck on your quest...Rick

That's my guess. I'm probably not the only guy looking to track these autos down. I mean - if I had the idea to do a project like this, I'm sure others have had the same idea.
Possible, but I can't see it. I would be very surprised if a guy that played in one game.... almost 35 years ago..... would be used for a cut. Never know though.

Topps had a cut auto of a Red Sox player who played only 3 games in 1949.
It went for $16 or so on eBay a few months ago.

I really need to sit down and start scanning everything.
I've been doing RCs / Autos / GU & 'pictured as an Oiler' - trying to do this with as few cards as possible.
For a guy like Devan Dubnyk (as an example) I've got a Cup ARP. Don't need anything else.
Cam Barker - I've also got a Cup ARP, but I need to get something nice looking that shows him as an Oiler.
Dwayne Roloson - his only RC is a BAP base RC from the mid 90s (as a flame). In addition to that one, I've got an auto'd card and a jersey card of his.
I'm trying to think of a someone where I needed to do all four, but nothing is coming to the top of my head.
Anyway - I'd like to get all the RCs done fire (many of the newer ones are RCs with Autos) and then move onto the Autographs.
