When people sign many things, their hand and minds get tired. Probably signature fatigue.

Sometimes the athlete sits around with a few buddies, drinks a few cold ones, and they blow through them together to get it over with quicker.

were all the autos on card? sometimes players sign differently depending on the print run of the cards and auto spacing. Autos on sticker vs oncard. another thing is during the off season players have more time to sign as opposed to during the season where they might be dealing with time constraints.Just look at Jordan, his autos from the 90s evolved and now they are different from the early 90s cards. Another thing to look at is Kobe Bryant and Lebron, see how they changed their signatures.

My own signature changes from day to day, I have different number of humps on my m's and will sometimes leave off the last letter or letters in my names. I don't do it on purpose and I write enough anymore to create consitant patterns, I end up typing most everything along with most people, Mostly only the first one or two letters is consistant for me. Writing is just like playing sports, practice makes things better/more consistant. I'm guessing most people today stop writing in gradeschool and move to computers and consistancy in signing suffers.
