Anyone like me who stores pictures of cards which I didn't won at ebay?
Just like the title decribes.
I ineed have a folder at my mac filled with saved or snapped pics of cards who I didn't win at ebay.....
I even writes prices as the file name...
Mabe I am a freak or what? There's someone like me or?
It's because I lost so many 1/1 cards or overslept so I forgot to bid....
Many of those "oversplept" cards were potienally huge PC-additions who ended up for ridiculosly low prces at Ebay.
Like 06-07 BTP Stick & Jersey AU /10 (overslept 2 times at 2 occasions)...
Those both ended up at $20-25 range!!!

$128 for the Ranford/Hedberg SHOCKING!!! I missed a another for $80 a few weeks earlier then..... BUT $128 is just plain crazy! around $60 sounds much better....

Only $25 for a gorgeous looking /35 card! ***I overslept...!***

$103.... It's just crazy! Sometimes set-collectors are willing to pay much extra extra extra!

I wanted to upgrade my old quaddy (3 different colors who ended at $33), but
unfortunately this card ended at +$80! I'm sure that the winner laid a huge bid, because I tried to raise $10 at every 1-click-bid from $20 to $80 but gave up.....
And now my gentlemen 'nd ladies... that's time now for my utmost most ultimate loss at ebay.

This still pisses me off! The seller required $80 in shipping only for just this card (all another of his cards with normal rates)!!!
If he offered regular registered mail as shipping for $12-18 so the card would be in my PC!
I lost the card with $.50 because the outrageous shipping rate stopped me from to bidding further....
Oh my I sent many e-mails filled of mad rants to him about that ridiculosly high shipping rate (both before and after auction ended).
He was actually offering a opportunity to buy the card directly from him, I actually offered a price who's higher than the actual ending price plus shipping
(we actually ended up with a much better shipping rate but still high $30-35).
But guess what... he said NO! NO WAY!! TOO LOW!!! and he got totally MAD!!! and banned me from bidding and raised the shipping rate
(I begged and excuses him many times before he set aside the suspension for me),
he actually thought that the card was going to selling for +$700 but the ending price was actually much much much lower like 25-30%....
Sorry if I got carried away a bit!
But there's seller who just have some screws loose in its head....!
Oh gosh the Barrasso/Fleury 1/1 was a such gorgeous card!
And he was going to ship that card in a regular toploader with crappy tape on it insted of magnetic snapon screwdown with diamond corners!
Tsk tsk.....!

I don't know anyone else that does this but it seems to me that all of this could have been avoided by doing 1 of 2 possible fixes.
1) Bid before you go to sleep. Every auction allows you to bid before the last few seconds.
2) buy and set an alarm clock for the desired wake up times
Good Luck!

As collectors, I think we all have a bit of hoarding, or obsession, or whatever...but you are taking OCD to a new level my friend. Let them go..... :)

I have file folders (3) to be exact for this purpose. One for every card made for John Tavares, one for every card made of Mike Bossy, and the third folder ... any card with a final sale price on ebay OVER $2000. With the third folder I do name the files the ending price and if they duplicate in price I simply add a letter at end of file name.
BTW It would scare the heck out of most people, the crazy prices for some vintage cards.Last edited by DeanCrandall; 04-15-2012 at 10:26 AM. Reason: vintage

Hehe....
I have alarm-clock but I sometimes still oversleeps...
The best way to win a card for me is to sniping.
Sometimes I suspect that there's some who bidding just for thrill's sake (???), if I bid before I sleeps so often ends up with that I lost the card.
Yes I'm a bit obessed I know...
Even scarier is that I like to look into at the folder and think about the feeling when I lost those cards haha!
I accept that I lost many card (no problem to have 100% is absolutely impossible) but I can't accept the loss of Barrasso/Fleury Back to Future Monikers Platinum 1/1 because of the seller's scandalous behaviors!
But I have many other interest so I'm not 110% OCD into cards.

Strange?, not at all buddy!
The most annoying is, that I haven't written up the places where I got all my Doug Gilmour cards. About 1200 are from Ebay and of course most of them from North-America. Can you imagine.. large map on the wall and a LOT of red pins there
Helllll...
That would have been very interesting to now.

Not worth the time and space. I delete anything I have photos of that I traded. No use in wasting space.

I only save pics of card whom I lost (but of course I saves all win confirmation e-mail from e-bay).
But it's quite a relievement to know that I'm not alone, haha!
I thnk it's great becuase I lost many 1/1 card so I know that I might never will se them again so no more false hopes that they might appear at ebay.
Comparing is also fun because it may be huge differences at exactly same card.
Like Hedberg/Ranford for 79.80 and $128 so I have the approximate price in the mind when those pops up at ebay again.
So I'm better prepared until next time and don't got caught off or stunned by the huge interest of some cards.
All humans are so different, nothing is wrong, I just only wanted to know.
Some may find this very strange while others don't.Last edited by Frendo; 04-15-2012 at 11:36 AM.

Nothing strange about it at all. I know lots of others that have done this.... and I kind of wish I had been doing this with Ranford's limited logos all along. Many of the cards have really unique swatches - and to see how many have surfaced online, and what swatches were used / price sold for - I think would be good info to have when picking up new copies in the future.
As for the ones you've missed out on - Snipe! I've been guilty of the same thing (forgetting about the auction, having it end when I'm not at the computer) but never again :) Well, almost never. Even with the snipe, still lose out sometimes..... but I can deal with that much easier than not bidding my real max.
Also - if the card isn't a 1/1, there's a good chance that another copy will surface. I know we exchanged a few PMs the other day talking about the Ranford / Hedberg. It's a very popular set fo set collectors, so that drives the price up. I would bet that a couple of set collectors who lost out on the $80 one decided that they were not going to lose on the next one - and that's why $128 happened with the second one. There can't be more 10 people out there that are willing to go $60+ for Ranford or Hedberg PCs (I don't know how collected Hedberg is, but there are only a handful of big Ranford collectors) and with the set being so old, the amount of set builders needing has to be drying up..... plus, most times I see those Tools of the Game cards surface, it's often someone selling 20 or more of them. I would bet its someone who was building a set, and has given up.
All I'm trying to say is keep looking :) Another copy will show up, and you'll have another chance to get it.
