    Derrick Rose Vs Penny Hardaway

Do you guys see any similarities between the two besides the jersey number and always being injury prone. In terms of skill level who get's the nod and why?

Aside from this season, i don't know how you can really label Rose injury prone just yet. With that said, skill wise it's Rose over Penny. Rose has a quicker first step and can attack the basket relentless. Shooting wise they are about the same, I do think Penny was a better passer though.

Yeah i'm thinking the same as well....seems like Rose is at his prime now, and you won't see much from him at all after this season and maybe next......Injuries really take their toll on players like Rose especially because his game relies on speed and slashing to the basket.

yeah man i try to answer in a non biased way but just can't do it sometimes! some of the players in todays game wouldnt be so hot in the 90's either...I don't care much for today's NBA so its really hard for me to put most of todays players ahead of the old players where DEFENSE was not only played but .. played at a high level always good to start up a conversational piece though haha

on a side note i finally picked up the UD3 Season Ticket Penny Auto! (should be in my hands in a few days)

The problem with today's NBA is too many ego's and players that simply don't play hard most of the time especially on defense. You won't see players like Rose even getting near a vote for the MVP if in the 80's or 90's with Jordan, Pippen, Bird, Magic, Ewing, Barkley, Drexler, Hakeem, Malone, Stockton etc etc.

Sick season tickets...one of the best autograph set's of all-time. Congrat's!

They came from the same school/college.

They were All-NBA first team within first 3 years. Penny was not a MVP, but he was #3 MVP vote one of the those Magic years.

They both play at best by using their best skill set. Rose has speed, and he uses it for his game. And there is no hand-check for today game. It makes it easier to create space by dribbling.

Penny has size, and he uses it to kill small PG on low post. And back then, there is no 5 second back-to-basket dribble rule. Basically, Penny can hold the ball down low for double team or just take it himself.

i think back in Penny's time, there was more talent and tougher teams. Not to mention that players rely more on athletic ability than actual skills.

Penny before his injuries would have "schooled" Rose. To me its not even close.
