Insuring your collection.
Does anyone insure their collection? My State Farm agent told me in a loss my homeowners policy would not cover my cards. It would cost $10 per thousand in value extra to my policy. They would need a list of all the cards and values to insure them. I don't have enough to insure but I often wonder about some of the collections many must have with some cards selling for as much as a house. Just a late night thought thinking about people spending so much on cards.

I asked my insurance company once and they said they could only insure graded cards...

It seems like it'd be cheaper (maybe not easier) to put your cards in a safe deposit box at the bank if you had a high end collection. $10 per $1000 of value is pretty steep.

There was a post on here a few months ago about this. The guy found a company that insures collectables.

i wouldnt suggest it... i have checked into it but the only thing you would want to insure are VERY valuable cards... if you had a 206 honus wagner etc... then why wouldnt you put them in a safe deposit box and not worry about it... basically to insure your collection you have to prove current value which means you would have to go through and update your value every month to get full value. I actually asked my insurance guy about it and he said i would be paying more in than i would get out of it if something did happen
