2012 Gypsy Queen Rack Pack

Checked several different Wal-Marts until I finally found some Gypsy Queen! I only have $25 left for this month so I grabbed the first one. Only opened 1 pack so far, so I'll report the rest tomorrow and/or the day after.

Going from memory here, might go out to the car and get the packs later.

1st Pack:
Can't remember much.
Rod Carew mini (Bleh, Angel's uniform. Should be Twins!!!)

Anyways. Here's a quick breakdown of my thoughts:

I like the Retail Framed Parallels. I'll probably get more of these value packs and stay away from the loose packs. I'll also lean more towards blaster boxes and hobby, naturally.

But, I have 1 TREMENDOUS issue with this product.

The. Cards. Are. FUGLY.

The design isn't terrible. But the actual color used on them? It's the illegitimate child of light pink and light purple. It's a color that should never be on a baseball card, EVER. The pictures on the sneak-peeks and whatnot make the product look attractive. In person it makes me want to vomit.

If I try and put together anything it's going to be the black and/or green bordered minis so I don't have to deal with the really hideous base color. Seriously.

I really hope this is just the first batch or the "retail repulsive" color or something for these cards and future print runs of the cards are fixed, or something.

Wow you've convinced me to stay away due to color controversies,I guess if you pulled an auto and it was that color it would be easier to stomach.

I agree, the art is absolutely beautiful, but the border color is UUUUGLY for base cards. Oddly enough the relics and auto's have a normal sand-ish colored border like last year's cards. Why can't all of the cards have that colored border? I'm convinced I might chase the black and green bordered minis though. Hrm.
