I think he is a UFA if Boston doesn't resign him. If they don't they have Rask to be their #1. Thomas might be a good fit for 1-2 years in Toronto splitting time with Reimer and helping him develop. Thomas 52 games and Reimer 30 games, give or take 5.

Thomas has one year left on his contract at $5M. I would imagine that it will be his last year in the NHL as he's no spring chicken, having just turned 38. The Bruins have had the succession plan for Rask in place for a while now, and I wouldn't be that surprised to see the workload relatively evenly distributed in 2012-13 to ease him into that role. Unless, of course, Thomas has another ridiculously good campaign and gets to ride out into the sunset in a blaze of glory.
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

Unless Thomas has another Vezina-like season, I think he might be moving on since Tuukka Rask has been waiting a number of years and did perform well a few seasons ago when Thomas struggled.

As a Bruins fan, I would like to see Thomas finish his career in Boston. I still think Timmy has a lot left in the tank. He played solidly in 7 games in the postseason and had a good regular season. .920 SV%, 2.36 GAA, 5 SO's, and 35 wins. He also had a much bigger workload than he was expected to have when Tuukka got off to a slow start and then later on got injured. He played almost 60 games. I would like to see him at least have an even split with Tuukka next year at the very worst. The question remains for Tuukka - is he capable of staying healthy and playing at a high level for 60 to 65 games?

Could be trade bait in the offseason. There's enough teams with question marks in goal that taking a 1 year flyer on the guy, for 5 million, wouldn't be a bad move (that's IF Boston wants to move on).
After that, who knows? If he is still a top-15 netminder next year (and no reason he can't be) and wants to keep going - it will only be short term deals.... but no reason to think he's done after next year for sure.

If Boston can get another player in the mold of Seguin, with speed and hands, Thomas may play out his last year in Boston next season.
Depending on how they are positioned for a good playoff run, you may see him go at the deadline.
Unfortunately for Thomas, the league is full of good active stoppers. A lot of these kids have put up their hands in the past 2 seasons and are terrific goaltenders. At least 12 NHL teams are super solid in goal, and look to be for the next 6-7 years.
