Republicans block FCC password amendment

For clarification, the Facebook password amendment was voted down. Of course the liberal media is going to run around banging their drums screaming about how Republicans don't want to protect your privacy. As usual they will look like the babbling idiots that they always do because their "articles" are based on lies, deception and dim-witted propaganda.

Republicans voted this down for two reasons:

1) By itself, it doesn't do anything. We are already given the same basic protection by dozens of laws, court rulings and the 4th Amendment. Employers have no legal ground to demand your password and if they fire you for not giving it to them then you DO have the legal ground to sue the pants off of them.

The real question should be why are the Democrats wasting taxpayer dollars to protect something that is already protected?

2) The only reason this was put forth by Democrats is to try and delay a vote on the GOP-supported FCC Process Reform Act which Democrats strongly oppose because it requires transparency by the FCC. I am not sure why they oppose transparency by a government agency since that is one of the things that Obama promised.

Still need proof that this is grandstanding an a waste of taxpayer dollars by the Democrats? Congressman Ed Perlmutter, the "author" of the Facebook password amendment already had his chance to protect your internet privacy rights less than 4 years ago...he voted against it http://clerk.house.gov/evs/2008/roll437.xml

And if Perlmutter really, truly wanted this amendment passed then the best way to get it done would have been to have it added to the FCC Process Reform Act. The fact that it was not added to the FCC Process Reform Act and that they insisted that it be voted on before the FCC Process Reform Act is proof enough that it wasn't about protecting your privacy, it was about trying to delay the vote on the FCC Process Reform Act.
