    This is not always true. I've received several damaged packages that did not have the bag. I've also received packaged that have been "bagged & tagged" and the decision of when to use it is as arbitrary as the employee.

    There's no harm in asking for scans though.


    Same thing happened to me a while ago the envelop was obviously cut with scissors and I didn't receive the envelop in a plastic bag nor a note to explain the situation by Canada Post.

    Max, this person has already said he got your package, so if he tries a Paypal claim he will lose anyway.
    As for Canada Post, I doubt they will give you any compensation for the loss if the package wasn't insured.
    What's to stop me from sending you a ripped open bubble mailer and then you telling Canada Post your 10,000$ Sidney Crosby Cup Rookie was missing. You think they will just say, oh ok. Here is 10 grand?

    I have had this happen to me before only difference is Canada post sent me the envelope back in a bag stating what happened i would not point fingers at the buyer this kind of thing happens more than it should i personally dont think he would want to ruin his feedback and rep over $20 bucks just my opinion sorry about your luck
