inkscape and gimp are free programs similiar to illustrator and photoshop. i like using powerpoint for my customs because it is easier for me to use since i used it a lot in college. does a really nice job. you can find cuts on the web to use in your customs or on here. for the card back issue, design two cards, one front and one back so the look like they match. you can buy the card stock that will stick together. i make photos personally, not cards. there are tutorials on here for making cards.

for powerpoint, start with a background..go with a plain white background. if you are looking for cut images, look on here or in google type in football cuts for example. they are usually saved as a png file. the image is without the background. save the image to your computer with the name of the player. always use a slide with two pics you can insert. it is all trial and error after that. play with the features to see what you like. if you have made a powerpoint presentation then this should be simplier to do

i started with my background, added some clouds then faded them into the back, found a frame witht he clip art search box and then placed my cut( player) on top. then i played a third cloud and faded it into the bottom. typed the words and placed them on the cloud at the bottom. all i can say is try it and see..there are powerpoint tutorials on the web that will teach you the basics of using powerpoint. just use those basics to make your custom since it is primarily the same in theory. also, finding a nice wallpaper to use as a background is nice to do at times but be original with your designs. look at jake's designs, he used powerpoint then graduated to photoshop. cuts are images cut out of photos.

    this is a resource thread
