as some of you know by now that I am religiously working to put the complete set of Panini private signings together , for the ones that helped thanks a bunch and for the ones that I bugged for a long time I am very sorry , and let me tell you this project has been beautiful , fun and on top of all that comes hard and extremely annoying at times but if i had to do something this again i will not do it any different, I have been chasing some of the cards for this set on full time bases search the entire web daily for few of them one of which is the inspiration for this thread , the Doug Gilmour Toronto Maple leafs private signing , two ever been offered on the bay one sold for $100 and one sold for a BIN of $49.99 30 seconds after it was listed while i was in the bathroom .

After months go by i could not lay my eyes on another. till two weeks ago while i was setting up in our local monthly sports card show, hours go by and 3 Pm hits which marks the end of the show and time to chat with other dealers to see how and what they have been doing lately, and that is when someone asked me how was i progressing with my Private signings set so i start to tell them all about it and how it was nice getting this card and that one and how I am killing myself trying to locate couple of the cards i still need one of which is the Doug Gilmour Toronto Maple leafs one , and that is when my friend and fellow Potvin collector Marco also a member here (PotvinFan) said the words I will give you one for $50 , so my first reaction was , yes sure whatever, you got it, thinking that he was jokingly giving me hard time.

but then he says I am serious and started looking in his shoe boxes and that is when I started to sense that he was actually being serious, so i say to him Marco are you for real , you have one ??? and he says yes I am sure , so me still not believing him, asked , what color jersey is he wearing in the card ? so he says Blue , and that is when my dreams shatter , so i say to him darn NO NO No i wish you said white because the blue one is St. Louis which I already have , so then he says ohh I was sure it was Toronto but I could be wrong , but I will dig it out anyway , so here he is digging and searching his cards one by one when this light started to shine in my Face from this BEAUTIFUL white color jersey of the Toronto Maple leafs of this Dougy auto card , and he said see i told you it was Toronto i just had the color wrong , so i snatched it from his hand and said it's mine , you want the $50 or you want to trade ?? so decided he want to trade for one of my Potvin cards , a Deal that we were booth happy to do .

so here is this beauty sitting where it belongs in between the other two Gilmour Private signings cards in the set St. Louis and Montreal .

so till today i keep think about how hard I was looking for this card when it was sitting in a box few feet away from me for a couple of months.

I was lucky enough that I got my Leafs Gilmour auto already. It is bad one really.
