Smart Expo Spending
Hey guys, I was just wondering how everyone goes about using their money at the expo, and how much they spend in the first place.
I'm planning on bringing $400 and I like to get a bit of everything so this is my usual spending plan lol,
$100 on a box of UD product for the redemption right out of the gate (UD2 or BD)
$100 usually on cheaper PC singles I try to find (quantity over quality here)
$60-$100 On a reallly nice PC card (quality all the way)
$100-$140 On either another box, more singles, or another nice card. (combination of all of those)
I think that is the best way get a bit of everything, make good use of the expo.
Also, I don't sell or trade (or at least haven't) at the expo, just buy.
So lmk what you guys think if this is a good way to get a lot of nice stuff, and what you usually do or would do differently. Also how much do you guys generally spend?

I go in .... intending on not breaking wax.
I say self ..... I have $xxx, look for PC 1st, resale 2nd ....... then if ive gone through everything, tried as many cash / cards trades as I could and still feel I am coming home with too much money, I look at wax.

I've been thinking if I should only break the one box for the redemption, and use the rest and fill my PC, and maybe like you said if I have any left go for another box. Last expo I ended up buying 4 boxes and they were all decent at best and I was dissapointed, also since then I've usually gone to my LCS the day a new product comes out and buy 1 box and that's been good so far... It's a tough decision lol, there are SOOO many boxes just staring at you there lol

Sounds like you have a good plan. A good plan is always the way to go! (oh, and bring more money than planned... ) :)

It's so tough. I've walked through the entire show and not spent a dime.... And I've also dropped my stack of cash inside of 20 minutes. All I can suggest is know what you want and hold out for that. Nothing wrong with leaving with money still in you pocket.... But if those perfect purchases are at the first couple of booths you hit up, don't need to walk the entire hall to find them.

This is my approach as wel. I know what I want and will buy it if I see it. Otherwise I will save my money for another day.

I usually only bring about $200 with me, which really forces me to try and get bargains. I like to get singles in bulk from a dealer. Sometimes I can work down $80 worth of bulk to half.
The six month's between shows, I work on my want list, going through my collection. Although my want list is never full finished considering I pretty much want every card from the 90's!
The day of the show, I almost feel like it's a test I've been preparing for, for a long time!
I usually always say I want to stock up on supplies, but rarely ever do, as I would rather blow my money on cards and boxes then supplies.

I always take my want list with how much I'm willing to spend on the card, get those out of the way first, then I go buy my supplies for the next 6 months, and finally depending on money usually bust a box of an ITG product for their redemption. It really is all about knowing what you can afford to spend on cards

I usually only attend the Fall Expo. This will be my 1st Srping Expo. I am excited with the new BTP coming out and intend to buy at least 3 boxes. My game plan is acquire as many set & PC cards as possible since Hockey cards at shows in South Jersey are minimal. If I cannot then I look for trade cards for future deals. I do trade at the shows but they are far and few, unless you have a big $$$ card to deal.
