    My Expo Adventure

I didn't want to wait too long so that I wouldn't miss out on the rush of "My time at the Expo" Show & tells.

This was my first time going all day, and I went almost right from the opening to straight to closing. It was a rip roaring time & I got to meet a lot of fellow SCFers. Some I could identify and some were there whom I'm sure I didn't even know.

As one of the first 500 attendees, ITG gave out a card that allowed us a free spin of the "ITG Wheel". I got a Stanley cup which I'll be giving away in a contest in the future.

I also got a nice 10th Anniversary stamped base card of Plante. There were a couple of guys asking "which card did you get" just as I walked out of the lineup. Wasn't particularly impressed They really wanted that case I suppose.

Anyways, I went about the Expo and my main target was my City Lights GU set. I was trying to get a bunch of non-white jersys which I managed in spades. The only issue, no more 1$ GU bins. Lots of 3$ binds or 2 for 5$ bins, but the 1$ bins were noticeably absent.

A couple of those are for trade. The Staal is actually a double. I have a white jersey one. The Tootoo it also a pickup. Those /99 are hard to find, so when I found one, I couldn't pass it up.

At the same time, while I was picking up my wants, getting a nice stiker promo from Panini and I saw a few deals for cards that I liked, if only for trade bait. Most of these are for trade.

    Ovechking Case hit cheap

That last image is a perfect transition to my afternoon since the TRiple GU of Hextall/Parent/Bryzgalov was actually from my box break. I got a bunch of nice hits, not all of which I can show here because they are gone.

I met up with a few members of SCF (30ranfordfan, scottkoz, flemingc04 & a few others who I know by name, but not username). I had 5 boxes and 30ranfordfan had a 10 box case. I puled a lot of great stuff, some of which was still here and others which aren't. Here's what left (all FT). The Roy Score were some free throw ins on some City lights pickups:

What's missing? A Rinne /5 Stick auto with a great stick, a Vernon Auto, a Rhodes SP stars auto & a Irbe Stick Jersey. The first story I have is for the Irbe. I actually saw IrbeFan4Life at the Expo, but it was a short meet. I went to talk to him because someone pointed him out as the resident Irbe collector. I think he was with his dad at the time. I showed him the Irbe and asked if he wanted it. He gave his dad a bit of a look, that I didn't figure out what it was at the time. He showed me his traders and I saw a very nice Tretiak/Dryden/Henderson/Kharlamov a nice piece that I've been wanting to pick up for a while, but he passed. I really can't say I blame him, but I was getting a strange vibe. We passed on making a trade then and there and agreed to talk it out later on the forums. I went to talk to gamebreakers and I figured out why he was so apprehensive. It turns out that Gambreakers had sold him the exact same card that very same day! No wonder he didn't want mine! So, that card was traded to Gamebreakers for some wants. Some of these are from my break, the rest are from my trade.

After that, I visited a few more tables. The Rinne left me (along with a few of my redemptions, none of which were that great - Fleury Glove, Reimer all white jersey & a nice Backstrom) so another dealer for these two pieces:

Just as I hurriedly finalized the trade for the Howe & Lafleur, the Expo ended. I brought everything to the card and went home. BUT, the adventure didn't end there. After I got home, low and behold, I had a nice piece of mail waiting for me for a trade I completed on SCF not a week before.

I don't mind about Luongo's recent performance. He's still a great goalie in my book. Sanford been in and out of the NHL, but at 32, he's still got time left. Especially with the goalies putting up great numbers at 40. I don't have high hopes, but I'm still happy to have my first Shield.

Cheers & Thanks for the read!

Unfortunately not at the moment. I am also considering doing that set, along with the Journey Jersey w/ dual colours.
