Just sharing my Mark Brunell Collection Stats!

As of 12/2/2005 - the stats on my collection:

Overall completion: ~94% of 3,077 cards listed on Beckett (actual cards should be closer to 3,200+ as many are not listed). Most of the missing cards are #1/1s, so it's really tough to make 100%. Slowly, but surely I'm getting there.

    Autographs completion: 129 of 135 = 95.55%.
    I still need the following:
    1998 SP Authentic Memorabilia M30 (#1/1 - Framed Piece)
2001 Fleer Tradition Autographics SP 5
2002 UD Authentics UDA Prize Cards 25 - Film Stripe (#/3)
2003 Sweet Spot By the Letters Autographed 10x12 Gold MB (#/5)
2003 Upper Deck Pros and Prospects Gold 124 (#/50)
2004 Ultimate Collection Ultimate Signatures Quads MMLB (#/5)

    Game Used completion: 319 of 323 = 98.76%.
    I still need the following:
2003 SP Game Used Edition Formations Four Wide FBBH (#/25)
2003 SP Game Used Edition Formations Four Wide Gold FBBH (#/10)
2004 Absolute Memorabilia TOTT Material Jersey Prime Spectrum TT57 (#1/1)
2004 Leaf Certified Materials Mirror Black Materials 135 (#1/1)

    __________________________________________________ ______________
1 of 1's completion: 50/107 = 46.7%. Total count = 55, but the 98 Contenders and Show #1/1s are not included in the % total because they are not listed in Beckett.

Printing Plates: 22/64 = 34.4%. Total count 70+, but none of the Pacific Plates were counted even though they were bought directly from Pacific.

    So overall #1/1s = 130+!!!!

    __________________________________________________ ______________
    Special serial numbered cards:

    #1 (1st 1 made such as #1/25, #1/150, etc) = 202

    #8 (Brunell's Jersey # such as #8/11, #8/1000, etc) = 212

    Last # (Last 1 made such as #5/5, #199/199) = 193

    Trifectas (#1, #8, and Last # of the same card) = 11
    Here's the list:
1999 Playoff Absolute SSD Honors Silver #50 (#/100)
2000 Pacific Vanguard High Voltage Holographic Silver #16 (#/10)
2000 Playoff Momentum Game Day Signatures #GDS20 (#/75)
2000 SP Authentic Buy Back Autographs #25 (#/11)
    2001 Ultra Gold Medallion #145G (#/250)
2002 Playoff Piece of the Game Materials 4th Down #37 (#/25)
2003 Playoff Absolute Memorabilia Pro Bowl Souvenirs Gold #PB9 (#/25)
2004 Playoff Absolute Memorabilia Tools of the Trade Combo Prime Jersey-Pants #57 (#/10)
2004 Playoff Honors Rookie Year Jersey #8 (#/150)
2004 SP Game Used SIGnificance Gold #SIGMA (#/10)
2004 SP Game Used Autographed Authentic Fabrics Dual #AAF2BB (#/50)
    __________________________________________________ ______________
Total unique cards in collection = 4,420+ (total includes special serial #s and different color variants such as jersey/patch cards)

My site isn't professionally done, but does include over 500 scans of various Brunell cards/Memorabilia. Come by and check it out!

Its really a nice collection. You were sitting on a goldmine in the beginning of the season. Too bad he dropped off the NFL's radar and the Redskins started losing.

That collection is, without a doubt, the finest single-player collection I've ever seen. Personally, I could give a rat's behind about book values when you are collecting someone you really want. That's what the hobby is all about. I'm sure you've put way more into your Brunell collection than you could ever get out of it, but that's part of the challenge. Hell, I collect Tim Dwight and Robert Ferguson, knowing dang well that the market for the pedestrian WRs will never really go up.

If you don't mind me asking, how did you get your start collecting Brunell?

Backing 1999 I started buying stuff on ebay and like most I started "prospecting" (haha) and decided on Brunell because Marino, Elway, Favre and Young were too expensive. But I do it now because it's still a chanllenge and I'm almost done!!!

What do you intend to do when you have all of his produced cards? Whose your next player?

Very commendable. I can relate, being a past collector of Elway. Stopped in 1999, before alot of the game used and autographs started arriving. Had around 1500 unique items that peaked around 25K after the Broncos won the second title. It was very fun and quite a challenge. You've done an awesome job and hope you can keep it up.

Nice going. I tried to do a Jonathan Vilma one. I stopped. Those press plates suck trying to get. I don`t find them appealing to own for a collection.

He's my 1st and last player I would ever do - especially now when each set has x amount of parallels - just look at diamond kings in baseball - ouch - how many parallels are in that set for crying out loud!! I don't think today's hobbyists are involved in COMPLETE player collections anymore. I see a lot of "I only collect his autos" or "only RC" or "game used stuff" or "...all excepty #1/1s" so there isn't a real Complete player collection.
