    Changing PC Directions

I'm trying to make a decision on PC matters and I could use some advice. I'm thinking of dropping, and selling, my David Booth PC, to focus on collecting just nice cards, probably 1 or 2 a month, because I don't have the funds to keep up player PC's anymore. I find that I'm too much of an elitist for the funds I have available, so to get the most enjoyment out of collecting I think I have to change gears, but I'd like to get some different opinions on it. I just can't keep up with all the new cards and think it would be best to just focus on a few nice cards.

    What do you guys think?

Well, ultimately it has to come down to what you want. If you're done with Booth, perhaps keep a couple of the cards you really like and seek to move the rest to fund your other projects. I don't know what Booth's market is like, so you may end up having to hang on to some stuff just because of not being able to find a buyer.

If you like autographed cards, pick out a nice set with the characteristics you like and take it from there. If it's memorabilia cards, same deal.

Let it rip, enjoy it, and do what makes you happy.

Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

I find being a Player Collector to be really tough, I had a good Beliveau PC going, but it becomes addicting and you can easily go beyond your budget. Just collecting nice cards here and there will allow you to enjoy the hobby and acquire a wide range of cards. Also if things get tough and you need to unload your PC having a bunch of nice cards is easier then a million cards of one guy. Best of luck,

    Mike

i once had an awesome pavel bure collection at the time. First and foremost collect what you want. i cant say that enough. however if your in it for money or collectivity then collect rookie cards of the players that are hot or are going to be hott. rookie cards always hold their value. i have been trying to complete the 08-09 cup limited logo set and its taken three years and i still havent finished it yet. go with your heart and go after what you want. thats what makes this hobby unique

Like I said at the last show .... im picky =P

I once was a Player Collector kind of guy .... and went heavily on Stempniak and Bernier. As you know, my Bernier stuff is pretty limited now, bu I did keep my Stempniak stuff ( mainly because I wasnt going to get the return I wanted )

I now collect how you are thinking of collecting .... if I see something I like, within my budget at the time, I go for it. I still do find myself going after a few players, and a few sets ..... but really my PC consists of what I think are just nice cards.

As said above, its hard to collect 1 specific player ..... there is always someone willing to shell out more money that you. To be THE collector of a certain player, you need alot of excess funds.

I suggest finding a nice set you like, decide whether you wants nice patches, hard signed autos, RCs, etc ... and slowly go at it. Just be sure not to get board of your set when you dont have a few coming in all the time .... I havent had a 09/10 Honorable Number coming in now for about 2 months .... but im still plugging away at it!

When your Stempniak stuff wants to come home, you know where to come

So true... especially when ebay suddenly is flooded with high-end/low-prints cards with PC-players at same day/week so it can be tough if the collector don't have enough $$$ to buy those cards (happened me on many times this year especially for 3 weeks ago something...it was tough!)

It's ineed easy to just pick up nice cards and not after players....
But I'll still stick to my PC-players so long....
