I've done it 5-6 times, once for myself and the rest were for others.
I could tell you what I do, but if you damage the card I would feel responsible. My opinion is that if it doesn't matter to you, then leave it be. The risk is greater than the reward

I have done it several times without much trouble, what I have done is to just use a hammer and smash along the top of the holder away from the card, once you get that broken, and down the edge a little bit, the holder usually pops open. I would imagine there are several videos on youtube showing how to do it as well.

If your aim is true, no harm shall befall the card, Grasshopper.
My favorite thing in the whole wide world is taking a slabbed card out to the driveway and Hulk Smash :)

I've done it a few times. Get some kind of heavy duty cutter... the type you use to cut metal or branches or maybe just a hand saw. Cut off one of the top corners and then insert a flat head screw driver in the opening and pry it open slowly moving up an down along the sides.

I use a hammer, like Joncamburn. I only do it for cards non-rookies that really didn't need to be graded in the first place (e.g. 01-02 Titanium dual patch modano /200 graded 9). I like my cards in binders, and I've never damaged one (though I've stepped on the plastic shards in my basement so clean up well).

use a hacksaw to cut right below the label, then once thats off take a screw driver and slowly pry the pieces apart. Safe and effective

I just used a skill saw with an ultra thin blade for cutting metal, I find it is more precise than a hammer or screw driver.
I wanted to frame my cards and had no use for graded, so I would never leave them in there...it's not really all that risky getting them out IMO.
