What will you do when your PC player retires?
I've been collecting my favorite Sedin twins for a decade and a half now, hopefully they still have some great seasons ahead of them but I find myself wondering what I'll do next when that sad day comes when they hang up the skates. Of course I'll continue to hunt for any Sedin items still on my want list but can't see myself moving on to a new player... probably hang out in the forums and maybe break the occasional box for fun to giveaway. Curious what the other player collectors here are planning in the future?

i will rejoice because then it will be easier to finish the PC, instead of having to chase new cards every year!!!

I already knew what I did when forsberg retired (twice). I sat on my cards for years and they crashed in value. I should have just sold them the week he retired and at least I would have gotten more for them. The fun comes in finding the cards for me anyway, not necessarily letting them sit in a dark box...which is what they did

My favorite players are either retired or dead, so my PC's are all over the place. Thanks to Panini there's a bunch of new Trevor Linden cards out there and thanks to ITG I can add one or two really nice old-timey Habs players every now and then. And thanks to Ken Dryden for being a meanie, I haven't really had to worry about trying to add a card with his actual picture on it for a loonnnngggg time :D
If your PC is one of the elite guys then the companies will add new cards every year......... Gretzky, Orr, Howe, Lemieux etc.......... it neverrrrr endsssss

I keep going when a player retires. I wouldn't dare call myself an Arturs Irbe collector if I would have abandoned the collection after he retired from hockey a few years back.
In fact, collecting him is more fun now than ever. Less parallels to hunt, and down to the new and fun ITG memorabilia cards that I want to add more of to my collection. Adding the older wants is also a lot more fun than when the player is playing and the collection is new. And retiring did nothing to crash Irbe's value...in fact, it is currently higher than it has ever been.

It's been a few years since my guy retired. For the first year, things were quiet.....and I kind of enjoyed that, but I was even happier to see new cards of his on a near monthly basis. It's been going strong now for a couple years and I find the chases intensifying more now than ever.
Knock on wood, I never have a day where I'm not searching for something on my pc wantlist.

One of my PC players is retired and another one plays in Germany. Its been a pain trying to find anything numbered of his and thanks to one German collector, i've been getting hooked up royally with the other guy.

I have many years before I have to cross that bridge.
For a while there, the worry was "what will you do if your PC player is traded?"
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

Thanks to ITG, many retired stars will never "stop" having cards produced.

My PC player hung up his goalie pads after the 99-00 season. There have been very few years since that no cards were made of him. Some years only 1 or 2 cards, other years there's been 60+ different ones. ITG, UD, and Panini have all included him in sets this year.
I just keep growing the collection.
