He has one more year on his contract ...... honor it.
Another selfish move? He cant do all this at the age of 39?

He's a jerk. Take a cue from Nick Lidstrom, who took out a full page ad in the Detroit Free Press to thank the people of Detroit. Tim Thomas thanks NOBODY, but is sure to plug his "upcoming work". Good riddance.

"I'm leaving for a year despite my contractual obligations. I will say I'm focusing on my family and God so I don't look like a tool"
Too bad it didn't work. He's a tool.

Hmmm, I on the other hand think Thomas is great for "snubbing" the white house because of his opinions I supported that decision 100%, as for taking a year off.....well it sucks for us as fans, but you never know what he really has going on with his family, maybe he was forced to choose 1 or the other and he chose the more important being family, anyways don't want to stir the pot to much just wanted to say I support Tim in his decisions and hope to see him back in 2 seasons.

Tim Thomas is my keeper goalie in my fantasy league. His name has been officially added to my list, along with Claude Lemieux & Shea Weber.

It's a good thing for Rask, and even better for the habs!

yea its easy for us to sit and contemplate what really goes on in his life but, if thats what he says (family, fiends, faith) then i believe him and wish him all the best in his future endevors.
Dont be to quick to judge a person on a decision one makes.
If it turns out he's a wife beating, child molesting jerk then you can judge and throw stones.
He's been a great goaltender and i've for one had alot of fun watching and hating him.

I respected Thomas' opinion to skip the White House ceremony due to his political views. Now, I just think he has completely lost his marbles. Right before that post, he posted an article from one of those financial apocalyptic websites talking about a big financial meltdown. If such a meltdown is coming, why doesn't he play for one more season, collect his millions, and assure that his family is set for life? Selfish, d-bag move on his part. For all I care, if him and LeBron left sports for good I would not lose one wink of sleep. They are what is wrong with athletes today, completely selfish.

there is more to life than hockey folks
maybe he has a family, maybe he doesnt want to miss raisnibg his children, maybe he wants to live life other than hockey
who are you guys to judge him?
unless you guys play in the nhl, or maybe have a jib that requires you to be away from your family 75% of the year, and on planes three times a week, then please you have no right to call him "lost his marbles, bat guonoi crazy" etc.
for thise if you who dont play in the nhl (im assuming most of you, myself included) you cant really call him out
i agree there are idiots in the league with no excuses like heatley and
but honestly thomas is just an older guy who wants to explore other thibgs aside from hockey
mayhe this isnt the "politically correct" way to announce a retirement or bot honor his contract or whatever, but life comes before hockey
im sure you guys put family before hockey cards and your job as well, as would i
so you cant blame him
