Does it feel like Panini's trying to bury UD by releasing similar type products (ie Contenders vs SPA, and nothing wrong with that) and releasing more often? That said, at this moment, this product really has too many rehash-es in it for my liking. Kind of looks like they picked up leftovers from various products and put it into a set. The "original stuff" is good though...I'm sure my opinion will change once I see boxes opened.

I think it's more a case of Panini have their stuff together and their house in better order so that they can meet their contracted licensee requirements. LOL
It is intended to be an update set of sorts so that the players that debuted later in the season and thus couldn't get a Limited RC or Crown Silhouette get the full spectrum of rookie releases. I am quite sure that the Louis Leblanc fans in Montreal are thrilled to get more of his cards. More generally speaking, it's a great concept as how many of us have lamented over the years about our players only getting a few RC's because they debuted close to the cut-off date? Speaking personally, I think it stinks that Josh Gorges and Max Pacioretty do not have YG RC's while seeing some of the one-game wonders that do.

love the idea of getting RC's into those sets, was a huge fan of Rookie Update and thats exactly what this reminds me of. but too many Hagelins will just drive his value down (which technically is good for me since i can pick them up now lol). part of the reason he has good value is that he only has a few RC's out. releasing all of these at once is just gonna bring everything down. im not gonna complain though in the end
did Panini stop with Luxury Suite and just put some into this set? a great idea if they did since it wasn't too good last year.

man, i had high hopes for this set....
bah, those stickers autos on the luxury suite rcs are gross. try and establish a brand for those cards will ya! loved those rcs last year, but now that you've downgraded them to sticker autos, what's the point?
excited to grab a foligno auto, until i saw the sticker again. hopefully, there'll be a nice silhouette for him and an updated hodgson in the sabres uniform.
if this is a rookie update set, why is there a kassian sabres limited card? that card just uses a manufactured swatch anyway, so how hard would it have been to release it correctly?
looks like i'm waiting for dominion and the cup to give me the premium sabres rcs i'm hoping for this year.
stop rushing these products out with stickers though!

Im just going to come out and say it, personally of course, i've lived by upperdeck for a long long long time, even when people on this website consistanly bashed them.
I've loved alot of Upperdecks products specially the spa, the cup.
But i've really come to appreciate panini. Hell i used to not like panini just because i thought the name was kinda magooo. but they have impressed me alot with their products, and im going to name them cause i feel like they have totally earned my buisness and respect as a legit card company.
Certfied - love the die cut jersey/auto rc's. way better then spx. they look way cooler.
Crown Royal - I dont really like the base cards to much, but i've seen some disgusting patches. Love the look of all the kings men patch/auto
Limited - I really cant understand why this product doesnt hold more value. Freshman frabics, huge jersey pieces. banner season, brothers in arms both really cool designs
Pennicle - I must say this is probably my least favorite but from what i hear is the most bang for you buck product. The city lights jerseys remind me of the mid 90's inserts just with jersey pieces in them which is very cool.
Titanium - What can i say, everyone i talked to so far loves this stuff. I wasnt real sure about the pink "new wave" cards but i've come to like them.
score - is meh, i like it for what it is, but thats about it. i'd love to buy my kids a couple boxes of it so they can have fun with what they see their dad having fun with alot.
Elite - My favorite product. I love the variations of cards, the rookies, on card auto's, prime numbers, newbreed. way cool. Jerseys are a bit plain tho.
Contenders - Way cool product, mostly i really like the patch/auto. I like the black backround and silver marker. I thought maybe player selection on auto's could have been better, but i'd say next year, this stuff could be better then spa.
thing i like best about panini is the inserts and parallels. Im having a blast trying to hunt them all down. I know i wont get them all, but it sure if fun trying :D
sorry for the long blah blah blah, i thought i owed panini and praise, i like'emLast edited by hockey01; 06-15-2012 at 03:49 PM.

Collectors always find a way to complain or scrutinize about something. As a hobbiest, I am just thankful we have cards to collect. Panini has done a great job, far better than UD this year. Who really cares that it is sticker autos when UD can't even print cards at this point. Its not meant to be a highend product anways. Wait for Prime guys. That is more comparable level as Ultimate. UD has 3 hard signed products and so does Panini. This isn't meant to be one of them. This is an update set similar to Rookie Update from the past and a huge plus it has a bonus Luxury Auto RC (once again a bonus).
And as for SPA, who knows if it is even going to be released on time since it has been pushed back almost 5 times now. It also took them what seem like months to make a promo set with just printed cards lol
I like a lot of UD products. Most of my PC is comprised with them and UD is still want I like more.
However, Panini is outperforming them on almost every level this year.Last edited by Yipper; 06-15-2012 at 04:37 PM.
