    1995 - Steve Kelly
Don't let his 149 NHL GP fool you. This guy was bad. Was traded from a bad Oilers team (that he couldn't make) to a worse Lightning team (still not sure how that Hamrlik trade happened. Sather must have been dabbeling in the black arts).

You forgot his Cup win twith New Jersey, sigh.

way too many for the Rangers, although they've turned it around tremendously IMO over the past few years. but before that....

2006 - Bobby Sanguinetti - 21st overall - traded him for a few picks, will be lucky if he gets playing time with Carolina now
2004 - Al Montoya - 6th overall - not a bad goalie but not top 10 worthy. probably could've done well with us if Lundqvist didn't shine
2003 - Hugh Jessiman - 12th overall - believe he just played his 1st game this year, could be wrong....either way, complete bust
2001 - Dan Blackburn - 10th overall - bad luck with him, too bad he got injured cause he would've been pretty good
1998 - Manny Malhotra - 7th overall - again not a bad depth player but could've gotten someone better

and 1999 where we have Pavel Brendl at 4th and Jamie Lundmark at 9th....terrible

Blackburn looked to be having a great future... same with Bourdon for the Canucks

Malhotra is still better than Bryan Allen, Rico Fata and Vishevski. There were a lot worse picks to make :P

I pulled a 02-03 Private Stock Hobby Zherdev Rookie #/99. I listed it the same day on eBay with a BIN of $135.00. It sold in less than 2 minutes after listing.

For 2 full years I had kicked myself for not asking enough for the card. However........ They are now being ignored at $2.00.

I mentioned this because it has only happened twice to me, the other time was buying a 99-00 SPA Football Box and getting some obscure 3rd string rookie named Brady, that nobody outside of Michigan or even in Michigan had heard of.

Since I was born (1987) and from what I can remember (about 1995-present). Prior to 95, they drafted Markus Naslund but didn't give him time to develop. Post 95 the guys that I can think of are:

    1996 - Craig Hiller - 23rd
    1997 - Robert Dome - 17th
    1998 - Milan Kraft - 23rd
    2007 - Angelo Esposito - 20th

No top 10 picks but still a blunder in my opinion.

2007 - Angelo Esposito - 20th though was packaged in the deal for Hossa and Dupuis

As for th PC player thing.... I hope offering the fact that I paid almost $10 for a certified auto of his last year shows I have no beef with his fans :)

It is amazing how complete the dude's fall from grace has been. He was slotted to be the #1 pick a year ahead of the draft but the usual question marks surfaced about him and his reputation took a beating. It is incredible that he still has yet to play an NHL game despite being traded three times, and with the Stars opting not to give him even a new AHL deal, he may be out of North American pro hockey.

Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

2007 - The Bruins chose Zach Hamill at #8 overall. Who went #9 overall? A Mr. Logan Couture. :(

Heh, the fact he brought the cup home to West Kelowna is the only reason I collect him.

And by collect, I mean I have 3 cards and only pick them up if I need to even a trade and something of his is there.

For the Habs since the beginning of the entry draft era:
1979 #16 (if they kept the pick), they could have picked Michel Goulet or Kevin Lowe.
1980 #1 - Doug Wickenheiser, and they passed up on Denis Savard, Larry Murphy, and Paul Coffey.
1982 #19 Alain Heroux (Never played an NHL game). Could have chose Gary Leeman, who could have been on the team many years earlier...
1985 #12 Jose Charbonneau. Could have picked Sean Burke, Joe Nieuwendyk, or Mike Richter. Chorske at #15 did better than Charbonneau.
1986 #15 Mark Pederson. Seemingly okay at the time. However Adam Graves had a more illustrious career.
1988 #20 Eric Charron. Although hard to say if anything better was available. If an enforcer was needed, they could have chosen Tie Domi.
1989 #13 Lindsay Vallis (played only one NHL game). Could have picked Olaf Kolzig or Adam Foote.
1990 #12 Turner Stevenson. Martin Brodeur was pick #20. Even Tkachuk would have been better than Stevenson.
1991 #17 Brent Bilodeau. Could have chosen Glen Murray, Martin Rucinsky, Ray Whitney, Zigmund Palffy, Steve Staios, or Sandis Ozolinsh.
    1992 #20 David Wilkie.
1995 #8 - Terry Ryan (played 8 games in NHL). They passed up on Jarome Iginla. Even Giguere or Sykora would have been a decent pick.
1996 #18 Matt Higgins. Daniel Briere was #24.
1997 #11 - Jason Ward. #12 was Marian Hossa. Even Dan Cleary or Brenden Morrow would still been okay.
1998 #16 Eric Chouinard. Simon Gagne was #22. Robyn Regehr was #19.
2003 #10 Andrei Kostitsyn. No offense to AK46, but could have chosen: Jeff Carter, Dustin Brown, Brent Seabrook, Zach Parise, Ryan Getzlaf, Ryan Kesler, Mike Richards, or Corey Perry in the first round.
2004 #18 Kyle Chipchura. Could have picked Travis Zajac, Cory Schneider, or Mike Green.
2006 #20 Dave Fischer (never played a game in NHL). Pick #22 was Claude Giroux.
2008 #25 (if Habs kept it), could have picked John Carlson.

Shows that scouts need to be more accountable for the intel they relay to the GM. Fortunately, a bunch of scouts were let go a couple years ago for the blunders of yesteryear...
