I like Staal, hate to see him leave (although if we couldn't resign him, happy to get something in return - better to get anything than nothing when he left via FA next July - and what we got in return is quite a bit more than nothing, so...yeah, works for me).

But he's not your protypical 1st line center. His offensive ability has progressed quite nicely, esp this past season, but he's not a playmaker...he's a goal scorer. It will be interesting to see if Eric and Jordan play together, or form a great 1-2 punch down the middle.

but glad to see him go somewhere were hi can become the #2 or #1 center that he is capable of being, and in turn penguins got some great players back #8 draft pick and a sutter brother.

Good luck Jordan staal, will miss you but still collect you.

You mean brother #3, cause they already have 3 staals. The youngest jared plays for the charlotte checkers ( he was "loaned" to the providence bruins for the remainder of the season, but still signed by carolina) it would be great to see the hurricanes go for marc and then bring up jared tho...
