    I got him while he was at Stanford, wrote a nice not on my picture talking about potentially coming back to Houston. Seemed like a real nice guy from the note and time he took out of his day to respond. This was a couple of months ago.

    Like thefon19 said, he will go back in the draft, but Pittsburgh doesn't get totally screwed. They get a compensation pick which is one pick later than where they picked the unsigned player in the previous draft. In this case, if for some reason the Pirates can't sign Appel, they will get an additional pick in next year's draft that will be #9 overall.
