    Ray Allen To Heat

The Miami Heat have scored another free-agent coup, convincing Ray Allen to leave a richer offer from the Boston Celtics and agree to sign with the defending champions, agent Jim Tanner told ESPN.com.

This isn't as great a pickup as people think. If they run Chalmers, Allen, Wade, Bron, Bosh as a lineup, they'll be too small and slow. Miller at least tries to rebound and play defense. Camby would have been a better option.

It's a good sign for them, but they do need to address defense.

I love Allen and will still be a fan of him. He refused more monye for a team with a chance for another cahmapionship. The Celtics are making any moves to be a contender next year,.

I think it would be best to bring Allen off the bench and keep Battier in the starting lineup. The Heat has enough scoring options as is, a defensive stopper is what they need to do some running around so Lebron and wade can stay fresh and do their thing. In my opinion, Allen would play a sixth man role for instant offense, coming off multiple screens, and shooting mid range jumpers and 3s. Either way, I don't see signing Ray Allen having a big impact on the Heat.
