    cohort? talk down?

    if you think I was trying to belittle you, I was not, not sure why you thought I was.

    you are welcome to give me any lesson, but don't be surprised if I do not agree with the
    flawed logic

    .

    raising the minimum wage is a temp solution that does not work.

    It’s also becoming clear that many Americans are being forced to take lower-paying jobs and that a low-wage bias is creeping into the economy, as Bloomberg economist Joseph Brusuelas recently put it. In many cases, minimum-wage work is all that’s available, which may explain why such workers are older and better-educated than they were three decades ago. In 2010, nearly 44 percent of minimum-wage workers had either attended or graduated from college, up from 25.2 percent in 1979, according to the Center for Economic and Policy Research, a liberal think tank.

    here is your liberal think tank

    the problem, as I have been saying for years, is the jobs aren't there. you cannot pay more for low skilled jobs because there are no skilled jobs available, you have to create the need and means to create these jobs.

    Raising the minimum wage won’t entirely solve the problem of anemic incomes, but it would help. Economists have long found that boosting the minimum wage can raise income levels for those earning just above the minimum. Employers, seeking to protect “wage ladders,” often bump up salaries for slightly higher- paid employees, too.

    again, short term, and no real solution to income and employment, which in turn affects taxes.

    simply put;

    raising the minimum wage would mean a mcdonald worker would earn the same as a starting teacher in ohio, so now the 4 year degree at $80K is worth the same as no degree flipping burgers?
    so do we raise teachers starting salaries, then what about everybody else? now everyone gets an increase, prices on everything rise, and we all are back where we started, except not the dollar is worth 35 cents.

    we should have regulated the insurance industry and used all that money, our foreign aide money, and money spent on wars to lower taxes, force companies back here or enable in country business to better profit through tax reliefs, and created jobs, skilled jobs. putting people back to work, in turn more taxes are collected, less poverty, and higher household incomes.

    raising minimum wage for a 45 year old to raise his family by working as a cook in a local mcdonalds, proving them with insurance, housing, and welfare, does nothing but promote dependency.
