I am so so so sick of selling on Ebay.
Hey guys,
This is what's up, I really need to vent something. Sometimes I wish I could jump through the monitor and punch some ebayers in the mouth.
My auctions ended on Sunday.
Here is a copy of my generic item description that I use for every auction:
YOU ARE BIDDING ON THEIt is now Thursday and by this time I expect everything to be paid for or at least contacted by the winner to let me know when I will be paid. This is the email I sent to 1 person who still hasn't paid (i've sent an invoice every day):
CARD IN THE ITEM TITLE AND PICTURE
ITEMS OR MULTIPLE ITEMS THAT SELL FOR $75 OR MORE
INSURED SHIPPING WITH TRACKING AND INSURANCE MUST BE PURCHASED.
$14 WITHIN CANADA AND
$17 TO USA
INTERNATIONAL PLEASE EMAIL WITH LOCATION FOR COST.
PLEASE ADD $1 SHIPPING FOR EACH ADDITIONAL AUCTION WON
I WILL ONLY SEND CARDS TO THE PAYPAL CONFIRMED ADDRESS. PLEASE DO NOT ASK ME TO SEND ANYWHERE BUT THE CONFIRMED ADDRESS.
As per Ebay payment policies, payment is expected within 4 days of auction end. If payment isn't received within that time frame an unpaid item case will be opened.
"Hi,
Please respond and let me know when I can expect payment for these
auctions. If I don't here back I will need to open an unpaid item case to
recoup my final value fees. "
I don't think it was harsh? Maybe it was...
This is the reply I get:
"i buy 2 CARDS of you just 2 days ago,i have many of MY buyer PAY me
beetween 1 TO 3 weeks after,i paid all the time in the same week, for me in
one week is respectable i buy for $1000,00 ŕ week and WATCH MY évaluation
is one of the best on eBay, but for 2 days its a joke for open ŕ unpaid its
ŕ trouble for you and WHEN i RECEIVE the letter of eBay you RECEIVE YOUR
money.just one thing if i paid now and i dont RECEIVE MY card in the same
week i dont open ŕ case for not RECEIVE logic for you but for me too,you
understand"
Wow! I was quite taken back by this reply. I almost feel like he's threatening me, does anyone else get that to?
I sent this in response to his blow out:
"I was just asking when you were going to pay that's all. I'm sorry if it
upset you, not my intentions at all. I do state in my item descriptions
that I require payment within 4 days after the auction ends. The auctions
ended on Sunday and I've sent a few invoices and didn't hear back.
If you like we can just cancel the transaction, but to be clear I just
asked for you to reply when I can expect payment, that's it. You replied
and I appreciate it. Your a seller as well so I'm sure you can relate with
people bidding and dissapearing right? It's no bid deal, I just wanted you
to contact me that's it!"
I will wait to hear his reply. I'm just so sick of Ebay, I instantly felt sick to my stomach because now I feel like this guy is going to leave me a negative. This is supposed to be a hobby for me, help me relax, get my mind off work and do something I enjoy. But this whole part of it really sucks and the thought of getting a negative I hate because it does have an impact on selling.

i think you were harsh i hate ppl emailing me saying that they will open a case..
Send a message saying when to expect payment :P
IF he doesn't response send a message ABOUT A CASE...Anyways it my opinion also put 7 days...4 days is a joke.. it won'T change anything for you, but it leaves more time, be understanding with people...anyways just my 2 cents i sold over 2000 items..and never had a problem that way..

I think ALL auctions should be paid within 24 hours. Why bid on something if you cant afford it? I have seen more and more complaints about non paying bidders lately on all sites. Thankfully i dont list cards on ebay. and when i buy a card its paid within the hour.

I never understood why people bid and then take a week to pay.
Anything I bid on I pay instantly at the end of auction unless I'm not home or bid on multiple auctions and am awaiting an invoice for combined shipping. I've never taken more than 12 hours at the most to pay for something through ebay.

I'm pretty sure that eBay has a selling style that allows this. I think its BIN and then you have to choose.
I'm trying to find a webpage that compares eBay's selling styles, but has eBay ever gutted that system. What ever happened to pages of info. They're tried to make it "fool" proof. Long gone are the days of walls of text i suppose.
....
Found it. Thank you google.

Use instant payment with BIn listings. Problems are over!

As a seller, the items i sell for 20 dollars and under take the longest to be paid for. Why does it take a week to send 10 dollars? Its frustrating that they pay at the very last minute. My highend cards usually are paid for within a few hours , and for that i usually give a free card or 2

Reminds me that some parts of the feedback system on ebay are flawed since buyers do not get penalized anymore for untimely or non-payment.

I sometimes wait to pay if I am bidding on other items from the same seller. If I win the additional items I can combine shipping. However, I always contact the seller and let them know about it. They are usually very receptive.

I agree with Max, a soft touch can go a long way in keeping buyers happy. A lot of people get their backs up the minute you mention opening a case, and nobody benefits from that.
I think everyone should pay within 24 hours, but that just isn't going to happen.
