Will A Screwdown Holder Damage Card?

    Hey everyone,

I received a huge PC item in the mail today. I immediately went to my LCS and bought a 1/2" lucite screwdown holder. It would be a great holder. However, I noticed that there is no well or indentation in the holder itself and any card that I put in there is essentially stuck in a vice. Would this pressure damage the card over time or would it be fine? Any help would be appreciated.

    Kindest Regards,

    Tyler

I just assumed that there was an indentation in the lucite (much like a one-touch). I don't want to put immense pressure and weight on the edges of the card. My fear is that over time, it will break down the edges and corners.

yes they will over time. at least in my experience. at the very least just don't screw it down very tight, but I suggest buying new holders. It can take away the ink from the card, or I've heard horror stories of the GU material or Auto being ruined but that specifically hasn't happened to me thank God
Please check my inventory before my photobucket!!! It's more up to date!!!

Wow! That would be a nightmare! The PC card is a Rocket Richard auto.

I'd pass on the screwdown and use a one-touch. Way safer.

I was just on the Ultra-Pro website and seen a one-touch that uses a screw instead of a magnet. I think I'm going to go for that. It's a shame. I put an Ovechkin base card in the 1/2" screwdown to see how a card would look. It looks amazing. I'm hoping that they also produce those with a recessed opening.

If you put the card in a penny sleeve, and then you put it in the screwdown, without mush pressure, it should be okay. But hey, better safe than sorry. Put it in a one-touch!

See, MY problem with the Crosby rookie year auto, is that it's an oversize card, and I've never seen a penny sleeve for those larger cards. 05-06 Beehive. Is there a recessed holder for these?
