Exactly what are these 1/1 printing plates? I've heard of them and I know that they sell for cheap but what exeactly is so special about them?

Really the only thing special about them is that they are 1/1. They are one color plates used in the printing process, so they aren't "pretty". And technically, there are 3 or 4 of them (different colors), so are they really 1/1?
I think some companies (like Topps) had to spruce them up, so they started putting autograph stickers on them.

So they are the real plates that are used to make the cards?

the main reason why I stopped building my Vilma collection. Very ugly and simply not worth paying $75.00 for. Thats the cheapest buy it now I`ve seen for those cards.

Well, if you want a really nice printing plate/set... Check this auction out...

I'd love to have it, but not for that much... How many players is the set anyways? 36 or so? Would be cool to have the plate set of a run of cards.
