Crazy but Nashville better match it. They can't lose both Suter and then Weber.

It seems likely Nashville matches that right? I seem to remember Poile saying they would have matched Suter's offer which was slightly less so it makes sense they would use that money to keep Weber.

As much as i love Weber, idk what to think. Thats a lot of money and compensation, but hey, he very well may become a main PC when/if he's in a Flyers uni.

To all Nashville fans, regardless of this offer-sheet, Weber was already out the door. As soon as Suter signed elsewhere, Weber let them know that he wouldn't be re-signing longterm. Thus, for the past week or so, Nashville has "quietly" been working on trading Weber to either the Flyers, Wings, Rangers or Sharks. Boston and Carolina "apparently" also made inquiries but Boston "apparently" will still not part with Hamilton.
From what's out on the grapevine, Philly thought that they had a trade in place on two separate occasions. In the first instance, Poille "apparently" ok'd the deal, only to turn around and call the Rangers to see if they would beat Philly's offer. They must have, because they went back to Philly and forced them to up their offer, which "apparently" Philly did. Philly again thought that they had a deal, only to hear that the Preds were now strongly in talks with the Sharks.
Holmgren "apparently" then gave Poille a deadline to accept the deal and after it came and went without so much as a call-back, Philly said screw-it and submitted the offer-sheet. To make matters worse for the Preds, Philly structured the offer-sheet in such a way, that it's unlikely that Nashville would receive the maximum 4x 1st-Round Picks. "Apparently", Weber is due to make over $20-million, in a single season. If that's true, then the Preds would likely get two first-round picks, a second and a third.
All "chatter" but "apparently", Nashville wanted both of the Schenn brothers to be part of the package and Philly wouldn't go for it.
Can't really see a scenario, where Nashville matches the offer. For starters, you'd be paying $100-million+, to a player who doesn't want to be on your team. Secondly, if they did match, there are stipulations in the contract, that prevent them from turning around and trading Weber. Third, if the offer-sheet is structured the way that some have said, in certain years, Nashville (small market team), would basically have to blow-up their roster.
Best guess, Poille has to suck it up, pick-up the phone and accept the Flyers offer of Coburn, Read, etc., etc., etc. That of course is assuming, that the NHL doesn't re-voke the offer-sheet, claiming it violated something or other.
Regardless of what happens, who wouldn't want Holmgren as the GM of their team? He keeps making the big-deal and at the same time, can kick the crap out of you to boot.

Maybe Nashville should be done what the Habs did with Carey Price before July 1st and send it to arbitration so they can buy time to hammer out a contract.
Poille will have to match it or lose everything since otherwise Nashville loses their complete top-pairing and will be in serious trouble. I have a feeling there will be a pressing on CBA changes to shorten the maximum length of contracts since it's getting ridiculous.

If Weber really wanted out then signing an Offetsheet is the worst way to go about it. Why wouldn't he just wait until he was traded?
