August 22 (LA Angels @ Red Sox outside) (9)
Probably my favorite day of graphing ever. Just an awesome day all around.
On Red Sox side at first, denied by Buchholz, Ochoa (coach), Bogar (coach), Pedroia, Doubront...which is normal.
Saw Mark Melancon and he said he would "be right back"...10 mins went by and no sign of him, while I was waiting for him I missed Pujols signing on the other side. Seriously. So I hate Mark Melancon now even more.
As for the Angels, DID NOT GET::
-Refused to sign for everyone: Callaspo, Ervin Santana, Mark Trumbo (didn't see him but heard he was about to sign before a dealer called him "Mike" and pissed him off..so he didn't sign)
-Came in on other side and didn't sign: Frieri (no one asked but I saw him when it was too late), Haren (refused everyone), Hawkins
-Never saw: Downs, Greinke, Isringhausen, Jepsen, Walden, Weaver, Williams, Aybar, Izturis, Morales, Bourjos, Scioscia, all coaches
-Signed but skipped me: Kendrick (only 2-3 and does full sig so it takes a while per), Garrett Richards (had nothing for him as he was just called up), Pujols (see Melancon incident above, got right at the end of Pujols' scribble session and he signed like 5-6 but missed me)
-Also saw Luis Tiant on Sox side but he was mid-convo and i waited 10 mins for him and the convo kept going so I went to LAA side again
ID was difficult today as the Angels only come in once a year and there was a small group of graphers out there today. So guys who we thought weren't players would walk in and we'd not realize it until too late. Better study faces next time.
SUCCESSES:
Chris Iannetta 1/2 cards (2010 Topps) (came in cab with Wells, signed for everyone, nice guy)
Vernon Wells 1/1 card (2010 AG) (had 5 in the binder for him, but in the rush with him and Iannetta only could get 1 out. He signed 5-6 per person though out there, he was racking)
Bobby Wilson 1/1 card (2010 Update) (last second recognized, card came out rough as I forgot to powder)
Terry Smith 1/1 sig card (Angels broadcaster signed so I got him)
Dale Arnold 1/1 sig card (I'm a big Boston sports media guy and love Dale so I saw him and got him, wicked nice)
...and here's where it gets good.
CJ Wilson 1/3 cards (2012 AG) (signed for everyone but said "raise your hand if I signed for you yesterday" and a couple hands went up and then left the mob)
Torii Hunter 1/3 cards (2012 AG) (signed for everyone, 1per but wicked nice as usual, came in very late though, like 4:10 for a 7:10 game)
...and here's where it gets very good.
Dennis Eckersley 1/3 cards (saw him and called him from Sox players lot. He was nice to everyone and signed for everyone. Awesome to be able to add a Hall of Famer, nice change of pace from the usual rude Jim Rice I see every time)
Mike Trout 1/1 card (went to CVS to try to get the SI he is on early, they didn't have it...the hounders chased him past security gates and were quickly mobbed by security in the restricted area. Some kid called him over and he said he would sign "just 1 autograph today. I'll sign 1" but I was right next to the kid and had my card out. So I asked nicely and he did it. I was pumped.)

Got tickets last minute so decided to try the Angels side. Very good success at the end of it made the rough day turn out OK.
RECAP:
Was next to a scout who knew the Angels players well. He called over Kendrick, Trumbo, and Morales who were literally a foot away from me. Asked all 3 to sign and was ignored by all 3. I was very disappointed in Trumbo but he was mid warm-ups and didn't sign for anyone.
Trout signed for many, not me though. Got him yesterday so that's ok.
SUCCESSES:
Peter Bourjos 1/2 cards (signed for me and another kid who were the only ones who asked. Nice sig, came over to see someone he knew)
Torii Hunter 1/1 card (signed for a bunch and got him again, once again nice)
...and then my favorite of the day. Saw the "Red Sox legends" segment on the scoreboard and Fred Lynn was in the house. I know where the legends watch the game from (private suite), and found the area where Lynn would have to come out. So I waited for like 25 mins there and Fred left in the middle of the 7th inning and was greeted by me at the exit. Signed and was extremely nice, class act and one of the best sigs I've ever gotten.
Fred Lynn 2/2 cards
Good day overall...happy to get Lynn! Will have to check out the legends suite at every game I go to. So far this year I've seen Lynn, Dwight Evans, Carlton Fisk, Rico Petrocelli, and Luis Tiant were up there. Never chased though.

Thank you, I was pumped to get him. It's been a rough summer rejection-wise...Mauer, Morneau, Jeter, Blyleven, Jim Rice, Hamilton, Cruz, Adam Dunn, Rios, Adrian Gonzalez, Pedroia, Pujols, Trumbo...so I'm glad I got Trout to salvage the summer.

September 26 (Rays vs. Red Sox outside) (24)
Had the day off so I decided to head in for the last Sox home game of the year. Not a bad day at all.
Went to the Rays hotel for a few mins at first, nothing there. Saw Sam Fuld, didnt ask him to sign, then saw BJ Upton at Starbucks and he continued his legendary record of most autograph requests turned down. Then I headed over to Fenway and did well.
RED SOX side: never saw many of the guys but was ignored by Ross, Ortiz, Pedroia, Lin, Iglesias...and turned down 1-on-1 by Danny Valencia.
RAYS side: Never saw Longoria, Howell, McGee, Peralta, Roberts, Shields, Guyer, Jennings, Zobrist, Molina, Joyce, Ramos. Turned down by Hellickson (surprised) and Scott. Gomes and Gimenez signed but I had nothing for them.
SUCCESSES:
Steve Burton (Boston sports TV host) (1/1 sig card)
Joe Castiglione (Red Sox radio broadcaster) (1/1 sig card)
Tim Bogar (next Astros manager?) (2/2 cards)
Alfredo Aceves (2/2 cards)
James Loney (1/2 cards)
Bill Lee (2/2 cards)
Jim Hickey (Rays pitching coach) (1/1 sig card)
Stephen Vogt (1/1 card)
Wade Davis (2/2 cards)
Kyle Farnsworth (2/2 cards)
Jeff Niemann (2/2 cards)
Sean Rodriguez (2/2 cards)
Rich Thompson (1/1 card)
Matt Moore (1/1 card)
Chris Archer (1/1 card)
Carlos Pena (1/2 cards)
DAVID PRICE (1/2 cards)
So very good day capped off by Price.
