I agree with that and was astounded by the call, but from what the ref said here is how it seemed to have been interpeted: When he lost the ball by kicking it out with his knee, his other knee was still on the ground. If you are still on the ground or "down" it is NOT a football move until you get up. According to the ref he was "down" when he lost the ball therefore he never made a football move. I think it's a bunch of crap myself but if that's the rule maybe it was called right.

What a finish!! Holy Smokes....Bettis is the HAPPIEST person!!
How right you are that could have been the second game where the officials had as much, if not more bearing on a game than any player on either team.

I'm glad a non-patriots fan agrees with me... the patriots (mostly unforced) turnovers didn't help. Very uncharacteristic & a letdown

It was the correct call, btw. If any part of the player's body other than the feet or hands touch the ground the player is down. You must be up to perform a football action, therefore it was a good call.

The correct ruling on a stupid rule.

Yeah exactly he was down after he picked it off. Not incomplete.

no, because he wasn't down by contact, and if you are going to the ground in the act of catching the ball, you must maintain possession of the ball the whole way, even after your body hits the ground.

It was a pick. No doubt about it. He made a football move after he clearly had possesion. The ref was just too stupid to make the right call. That official will probably be looking for a job in the NCAA next season, cause he will not be allowed to officiate anothe NFL game after that crappy call.
