All of those reasons are completely obvious and I think Montreal is still the most hockey-mad town in Canada simply due to the fans, media, and high expectations. This is one of the reasons why players and management are told to ignore the paper and TV (with maybe the exception of trade deadline).
The last reason, "losing is not tolerated" goes along with the hockey-mad fans and media. All I can say at least it's not possibly as bad as in the 70's...
Therrien is one of the extremely rare return coaches to the Habs. His previous tenure as Habs coach is noted and it won't take much for him to draw criticism.
I remembered Crawford was one of the finalists for the position. I think the main reason he lost that one was due to the Steve Moore litigation finally going through the courts next month, which by itself would be a major distraction. In Therrien's case, he was low-profile
