value of wrestling mat cards??

was recently going over the value of some of my cards and i started thinking....why are some event mat relics more valuable then others that are of the same set/event?

example: 2010 elimination chamber mat relic cards.

jericho books for 10.00, while orton books for 15.00. and some less then 10.

if it really is the canvas used for that ppv event, then every wrestler scheduled for the ppv actually used that canvas! its the same canvas that everyone touched, but bc it has different superstar pics on the card, it makes it more valuable? is a pic of orton on a card really more valuable then jericho and others??

it just boggles my mind how they come up with the prices of this stuff and what makes the prices differ with cards of that nature. yea its got orton on the card, but it might be a piece that another wrestler touched.

because most price guides get there prices FROM DEALERS and not all regions in the U.S. have the same liking Orton may be hot in 10 states while Jericho maybe hot in only 2 or 3 and others less. they usually get the dealers to send in there Sales and then they take the MEDIAN of the sales and get there PRICE for there price guide. and just like all prices guides state there ONLY GUIDES to go by the PRICES are not Etched in stone. I hardly EVER go by prices guides Especially For Cards they are so mass produced (even the 1/1's The Companies could create another one at a moments notice if they felt like it) WITH ANY Collectible its only worth what someone is willing to pay for it price guide or no price guide.

Actually, I was at RAW when it was in Fort Wayne, and they change the mats around 5 times during the show while the commercials are playing. They have them layered on top of each other. That is one reason MAT cards are not that expensive. As far as pricing, it does depend on who is on the card and who is hot at the time. Orton will always be higher than Jericho but not Cena. Like everythingcollect stated, it goes by popularity of the wrestler across the country.

Well it's who is Hot look at it by Serial numbered cards. A Heath Slater numbered to 50 would not be as much as a Cena numbered to 50 when its the same card just different superstar. But I see what you mean a bit.

ive been to a few shows and ppvs and NEVER seen any mat changes. when you seen blood on the mat, or someone broke the ring, it stayed that way.

Yeah, I was surprised when I seen that. I always thought only 1 mat was used but when they were here they changed it at least 5 times. Maybe it was a city code thing or something?
