Of course they are a team, it's just that the offense is centered around Kobe. They may not have high volume scorers other than him, agreed, but Odom is still capable. He averaged 14 shots a game his first two full seasons with the Clippers and 14 a game in his one year in Miami; he now has averaged roughly 12 a game since coming to LA. Did Lamar "suddenly" and "magically" become less aggressive by two full shots a game on average, or is it the system he's asked to play in that has him shooting less?

He got tired of it after awhile though and became a champion with a better team after people kept getting on his back for scoring and not winning. Kobe's career has been the reverse; he was a champion rather early but now his primary focus is scoring titles. I am amazed at his scoring ability as any person, but let's face it, he wanted to be the #1 guy and to say "oh his poor team isn't as good any more" doesn't cut it when realizing that the team is what it is due in part to his own fault. Pippen could have quarreled with MJ as much as Shaq and Kobe quarreled but chose not to and probably will end up with more rings because of it unless Kobe decides soon that being a 35 ppg scorer on a mediocre team isn't as great as playing for a title contending team where he has to share the wealth a little bit more.

Yeah he shouldn't get ripped on at all for just doing his job. Its not his fault the rest of the team sucks and he is good.

I watched both games in full when he scored 62 vs Dallas in 3 quarters, and this 81 point game.

Objectively, I think he was ball-hogging in the Dallas game. But I think he actually did what he had to do in this Toronto game. Toronto was actually winning by 16 or 18 points in the 3rd quarter. No one (besides Kobe) was doing anything on offense or defense. So he decided to take over. Even the announcers said that his offense energized the whole Laker team...who were sleep-walking til then.

I can understand why some people do not like Kobe as a person. Heck my wife doesn't even like him. But yesterday, he dropped 81. Wow.

You picked out the perfect point, I also saw both games in full (like every Laker game, lol), against Dallas he just was on FIRE and he couldn't miss so he hogged the ball and scored 62 in 3 quarters, I actually believe he played better in the Dallas game. In Toronto, he did what he had to do for his team to win, HE ISNT IN IT FOR A SCORING TITLE!!!! He has a desire and passion for the game that is uncomparable. So get over dissing him, MJ did the sme thing with his wife, i'm not saying that you should like him as a person (Believe me he is a great guy, my friend has met him and he raves about how nice he is), I'm just saying that you guys should respect how he plays 110% every game, and does what he has in his abilities for his team to win.

kobe for mvp (most valuable player in case ya forgot) and he indeed is the most valuable.

I have never liked Kobe and never will. He's a hell of a player, but I can't stand him as a person. He's a wanna be Jordan, which he never will be, he cheated on his wife, which I don't care you are, if you do something like that I'll never like you again, no matter what you do.

wow, jordan just had a "mistress" for years, so i take it you dont like jordan even though you said kobe is just a wanna be jordan who will never be like him?

The situation does not have to be an either-or argument. I believe Kobe did what it took to win the game, but no one can tell me that he isn't in it for a scoring title as well, especially considering that it has come out of his mouth before that he is indeed interested in a scoring title.

This reminds me of another fallacy I saw in a poll on Yahoo: is Kobe a ballhog or just unstoppable? They don't offer the option that he could be *both*. As an English major, I readily notice mistakes in written conceptual analysis like that. It's just plain bad rhetoric.
