Who Should I Collect?
I am currently collecting Jamal Lewis Rcs. I already have a bunch of low end rookies and some high end rookies also. I was thinking of collecting his rookie master set, but don't really want a bunch of low end cards laying around. Maybe I should collect Jamal Lewis Rcs booked at $50 and up or something.
Here are some other players I might want to collect:
Tomlinson
Larry Johnson
Shaun Alexander
Steven Jackson
Ronnie Brown
Reuben Droughns
Maybe I should collect the rookies that are booked at $50 or more...
Please help me out. I just want to get some ideas from everyone.

Yea but the thing is, this can be his only hot year and if I pay a lot right now just because he's hot at the moment, I would lose money. Same with Larry Johnson, if anything, I will wait until the offseason and get cards when they're not as hot.

maybe pick a sleeper rc from the next draft there are some big Alexander, Johnson, LT collectors and brown likely already has a few. your going to be better off in the wallet picking up a rc cheap early on and if he hits big sell everything for a nice profit. if your in it for collecting and money isnt an issue pick whichever player you like the most.

Larry Johnson was the best RB in the league this year with 1700 yards in only about nine or so starts. Priest probably wont play next year and KC has the best line in the league. His numbers were out of control at the end of the year this year, so dont pass him up

If you are investing, you want to "buy low, sell high." Steven Jackson and Reuben Droughns seem to fit the first half. The other guys seem to be pretty popular right now.

I'd go with a RC from the upcoming class... but if you want someone who's already in the League, I'd have to go with Larry Johnson like 'big ben 47' suggested...

Tomlinson-----------you got passed by when you had the chance----always been good
Larry Johnson-----------you got passed by when you had the chance
Shaun Alexander------------ always been a great back! should have had his cards a long time ago
Steven Jackson----------best buy now!
Ronnie Brown-----rookie year if you didn't start yet-dont
Reuben Droughns----------big upside if you want the chance
and i say if the team ever starts winning or trade
duece of the aints

is your goal to collect or to invest? I'd say if you want to collect find a guy not as hot as Alexander cuz you're right, if you buy now, there's not really any demand increase to be had.
If you are trying to find someone that will increase in value, I'd recommend buying many different guys. some hot and some as specualtion. Kind of like a mutual fund. keep your portfolio diversified. If one guy starts sucking or tears a knee, you're screwed. Also, your could key on better cards like SPA or SPX along with various other sets.
However, my personal belief is, that if you are looking to invest, buying and selling is the best way to go. I know that turns into more of a business than a hobby, but buying cards for investment purposes is really not all that great. As cards get older, demand goes down and the masses move onto the next big name.
If you are just wanting to collect, select a guy that you like to watch play or maybe someone that's a great interview or form your favorite college team or almamater.
