Thought this needed to be said :)
As many of you I'm sure don't know, I was diagnosed with T-Cell Lymphoblastic Lymphoma when I was 18, January 11, 2011 to be exact (1/11/11) 1 isn't my lucky number...haha
But It's been over a year and a half since my diagnosis, and through all the problems, the complications, the torture, the treatments. One thing that never changed was when I got online, I went to my trading sites to see what was new, this being one of my favorite. I have tried to keep up with trading, and still try to as much as possible, but I used to get over 20 deals a month, now I'm lucky to make 5. Not at the hobby's fault, but being a teenager with cancer, I also have a very bad depression, that leads me to ship later...not get stuff up right away, Anyone with depression can tell you, it isn't just being sad, it's having no urge to do anything. I've seen a lot, at the time, I thought I was the unluckiest kid on Earth, but I was put in the pediatric clinic, and there are too many kids, in just my hospital (University of Michigan hospital, Ann Arbor, MI)
It definitely changes your outlook on life. My outlook isn't even bad, my cancer should be gone by May 2013. But you see things differently...My complications actually are worse than the treatments were, I need both my shoulders replaced because one of the steroids to fight the cancer ate away at my joints, to the point where I can't lift my arms above shoulder level without it hurting. This wasn't a whining thread, I made this to tell you ALL how much I love this hobby, and how you all turn a bad day into a better one just by having a message in my PM box :)
I've stopped really trading unless it's for Ovechkin autos, which the story behind that...is I got to meet him for my Make a Wish! That was back in March, and I will make a thread about it if you would like, with my whole Ovie PC :)
But again, I love you all! And I can't tell you how much this means to me! Thank you all, and hope I didn't bore you with the read, if you have any questions I'll be happy to answer them, I hope you all have a great day! :)

Hey Rob it is great to hear from you and even better to hear that you are overcoming cancer. We have a saying in my family about cancer that cannot be printed on this website - it touches everybody's life at some point in some way. I am glad to hear that you are staying positive in spite of all the challenges and that your diagnosis is a good one.
I am sure I speak for everybody when I say "YES!" Let's see that show & tell thread and your experience with Ovy. Just another example of how hockey players are the best athletes out there!
Good luck in your battle my friend!
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

That would be an awesome thread. I was diagnosed with MS exactly 3 months after you were diagnosed (4/11/11) so I have an idea what you mean about treatment, depression and so forth. I would love to see pics, autos and of course, your PC.

Rob - Thanks for sharing and I would absolutely love to see and read about your time with Ovie (lol how we all spell it differently)! He's one of my favorites and always entertaining.
I hope you get as well as you can as quickly as you can and will be enjoying this hobby for a long time. Peace!

Hey man I know I'm new here and you don't know me but I just want to say that I am currently going through the same problems with depression. Last February while I was deployed I stepped on an IED during an op and well, almost bled out on scene, I died twice while on transit from what I've been told, and ate getting hit I didn't wake up till 5 days later at the Walter Reed Naval Medical Hospital in Maryland. I found out that I had lost both my legs (both above knees) my left hand had some nerve damage and my right arm was shattered, at first I was in good spirits just happy be alive and to see my wife and step kids and this lasted for a couple months.
Then the depression hit, while I do have prosthetic legs with power knees that sorta resembles something out of terminator it's still not the same, I am never going to play a game of softball or football again, and relearning to walk is a long painful process. To make matters worse my wife wants a divorce, she plans on leaving me soon, so I was going through a lot of depression, to the point where I was medicated with antidepressants, finally I decided to stop taking the antidepressant since taking those will not bring either my legs or my wife back. Anyways I stopped seeing my shrink since she really didn't accomplish anything but aggravate me even more...
Then came collecting cards, I find this hobby helps me relieve stress, it keeps my mind of things, it keeps me busy, and it gives me something to look forwards to as well, this site helps out a great deal as well, I know I'm new here but I spent a great deal of time just today alone, just to be able to communicate with people that share the same interest, and hopefully soon start trading with you guys!
Well just want to say hang in there, take it one day at a time, that is what I do. To everyone else, I just want to thank you all for this great community, I have had so much fun over here so far.
