Shipping question...
I was wondering, when you receive a notice from your mail carrier that you have to go and pick it up at the PO because they only put one freaking stamp on it, does that affect how you rate them on their feedback? Now I know when people first get started out with trading, especially PWE, it's very easy to not know how many stamps it'll take to get it to someone, cause I've done this before too. Do you guys/gals ever mark someone up for not having the correct amount of postage on it? Especially when they don't respond back to your email when you explain why you haven't closed out the trade yet. What do you peeps do when this sorta thing pops up? Just curious what proper etiquette would be from my side of the fence without coming off like a jerk. Thanks.

Yes:
If an eBay seller has his crap arrive to me with "Postage Due" he gets a Negative unless I've dealt with he/She before. They know exactly how much it costs to ship. Playing dumb does not wash.
Now if it's somebody from SCF, then of course I handle that differently and inquire and send a PM.

I'd give a negative on E-bay if they did this to me if they did not respond back when I let them know about it. If its a transaction here, give the guy a day or 2 to respond. Not everyone goes on to the forum everyday. You can also see when the last day and time he/she signed in last on there profile so they just might not be online much. If you see they logged in and have not responded yeah it warrants negative feedback. But both of you need to have marked the trade completed first thou.

Man you guys are quick with the negatives.
I honestly do not see how it warrants dinging a person to that extent. You go to the post office, you pay your 62 cents, you get your card, and Bob's your uncle. The card is there, it's in good shape, what exactly is there to be so upset about that you go that far? At most you send them a message saying that there was postage owing, please make sure that it doesn't happen to your other customers or to you should you deal again in the future. Most people are reasonable, will apologize, and may even send back your Paypal for shipping.
I'm also adding this to my First World Card Collecting Problems book.

+1; Richard is right on the money, if you get static or crap back from the person when you bring it to their attention don't deal with them in the future. But in all seriousness, it doesn't take much for a stamp to missed, the wrong one grabbed, or even fall off of envelopes. The cheap glue on dollar store envelopes along with what they put on stamps could kill a person doing their wedding invitations.

The only two times I did it, both sellers Did Not Offer Combined Shipping I was faced with a 6 dollar bill for shipping on each 3 card single auction, and they spent 1.15 to ship the cards, knowing full well I'd be stuck at my end for another $1.25 difference.
I am really not quick with the negs, only when it's obvious that people are ripping me off.

So you're saying that if someone gets cheap and only does the minimal to ship something and you've tried to contact them with no response back, then you shouldn't let everyone else know that he will make you pay for shipping too? Sure $0.40 isn't a big deal, but when you are expecting someone to hold up their end of the bargain when making a trade and they don't, you owe it to others to make them aware. Is that too quick to being negative or would you be doing a PSA?

I only would neg if they didn't offer combined shipping and I had more than 1 or 2 single wins and they hosed me badly. There is no need to guess and undercut when you are shipping, especially when you are charging triple.
Now if they did not re-imburse me for the difference, or at least respond with an apology, then I'd neg them for sure.

On the other hand it may have been the one time that they just couldn't afford the extra stamp or whatever or they were really concerned about getting it out on time so was rushed in mailing, not thinking about the postage. I gave this particular guy that I'm speaking about, a positive just because I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt, in this case. He hadn't had any other negatives so I felt that it wasn't worth ruining his rating over $0.40. I've been hosed for over $1 a bunch of times, though. Not very much fun when you have to go to the PO and spend over $20 in charges because people become too cheap in mailing out packages. Kinda sucks......
