Professional grading questions
Hi all,
In terms of professionally graded vintage cards, is there a grading service that is considered better or "tougher" than others?
For example, looking at Gretzky graded rookies on bay they are graded from many different companies. Which are the more reputable ones? Any I should steer clear of?
New(ish) to the hobby but familiar with comic and toy grading and this was always an issue with those collectibles.
Thanks for any advice.

BGS and PSA are the top 2. Any others aren't taken as seriously

I wouldn't say the others aren't taken seriously, SGC is right up there with BGS and PSA and has a huge vintage following.

BGS (BVG) is solid, but they have knowingly graded newly sheet-cut cards.
BCCG is pretty much junk. Authentic but not even close to a guarantee of a grade.
PSA is the 'standard' for that time period.
SGC is well respected for their consistency, but they are more recognized for pre-war sets.
KSA has gained some traction as far as I can tell, but they have a reputation for soft grades (up to two grades higher than the three above) and grading trimmed cards. Some collectors have had some success if they see the cards first.
Beyond that, they get worse...
